About Norma Phillips

My wife and I have lived on the east coast for years and prefer car destination vacations over airplane. We have been up and down the east coast searching for great places to stay. We have 2 young children and call Delaware our home.

Norma Phillips purchased this house in 2004

Why Norma Phillips chose Poconos

We were looking for a place that was within 3 hours of our home in Delaware, and we loved adventure. The Poconos was a great area

that still felt undiscovered. There were so many unique and small little towns that speckled the area and we loved exploring them all. We loved to be on water so we could paddle and fish and just enjoy the outdoors. After doing a lot of looking we found this house on Lake Carobeth back in 2004 and set it up to be a vacation destination that our friends and family would love. The rest is history.

What makes this house unique

The Pink house sits high above the lake yet close enough that you feel so close to is. The sun hits the deck in the morning and it is the greatest place to wake up and have coffee and plan your day,

Both downstairs bedrooms have small little deck areas and direct views to the lake. When the sun comes up it just draws you to want to get out on the lake. That's why we provide rowboats and canoes so anyone can start their day off with an envigorating paddle. At the end of the day one can enjoy the indoor jacuzzi tub to relax and unwind.

GREAT home!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I loved staying at this home. The view was phenomenal and this home just made us feel like we were in our own home. Every single room gave us a sense of warmth and coziness. We were extremely sad to have to leave. We would love to return for the summer; it must be awesome to be able to use the boats and go swimming in the lake. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your home. :]

Great Getaway in Beautiful Surrounding

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just got back from a much needed summer getaway and we all had a blast at this beautiful country home! Plenty of room, wonderful views, lakeside amenities, etc. made this a very memorable family vacation!

The owner, Dan, was always on hand to answer any questions and treated us like royalty in all our requests.

I'd highly recommend renting this home ... you won't be disappointed!!!

Nice House with a private Beach

  • 4 of 5

This house was perfect for our family vacation. While the neighbors are close having your own doc and private beach made it feel secluded. The only issue was with the community. They were paving the roads the entire week and kept blocking our access in and out of the house. I found this odd since it was a holiday week. It made you feel trapped in the house at times. I would totally rent this house again.

Owner's Response: Hey guys, I'm glad you had a great time. The timing of the paving was so frustrating as it was supposed to be done in May!! The road looks fantastic and is now great for rollerblading and bike riding, When you come back you will love it even more.

Beautiful lake, spacious house, but not well kept up

  • 2 of 5

We are sad to say that the pink lake house did not meet our expectations. I have never written a negative review about any product or service, but I need to be honest so that people know what they are paying for. Since we read so many positive reviews about this house, we spent above our budget to rent a house right on a lake that also had a kind sized bed.

The pros of the house were the beautiful views of the lake, the access to a row boat, a canoe, and a kayak, the great dock, the spaciousness of the house, the access to reach the owner if needed, and the details provided by the owner about the community rules and house rules.

Our biggest problem is that the house has not been kept up in great condition. It is not as nice as it looks in the photos. The front door is broken, the washer is broken but can still be used, the baseboards were filthy, and the house was dated. We own a shore house in New Jersey and rent it out every summer. We work really hard to make sure the house it kept up to date. We touch up the paint each year, have the carpets cleaned by a professional before renters arrive, get the deck power washed, get the windows washed by professionals including the sky lights, and fixed anything that is broken. It costs us money to do all of this but we want our renters to be really happy and find no dirt and nothing out of order. So for us to arrive to a door that is broken and clearly needs to be replaced, a ground floor that smells musty, and baseboards that are filthy, we were really disappointed. We really wanted to LOVE this house. We did enjoy our vacation and absolutely loved the lake, but we would not rent this house again. It was not worth the money we spent for our 3 night stay. Dan, the owner, was very responsive when I had questions, but I think he has different standards than we do as far as upkeep. If the house had a deep cleaning and all items were fixed it would be a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Marguerite as an owner of a beach house I am sure you find that you can't please all of the people all of the time. But it doesn't mean you stop trying. I have over 50 five star reviews. My past guests tell me I'm doing things right. I have the best cleaners in the Poconos. We rent the house year round, not just in the summer the way a beach house works, but 52 weeks a year. We have constant maintenance and upkeep, we have to keep it in great shape it's the nature of the business. But I take feedback seriously, I advised my cleaners of your concerns. As you know personally, I had a garage door problem that got fixed during your stay. If you would have communicated with me regarding the broken door issue I would have had my door guy look at it. It turns out the spring on the door got disconnected. I have been in this business a long time and have come to find we all have different opinions and perceptions based on our own personal experiences and prejudices. This is a great house and I'm sorry you couldn't find a way to enjoy it.
