A holiday in the Emelia Romagna region of Italy requires an adventurous spirit. The vistas, history, unique villages and dramatic medieval castles are all here, but you have to seek them out. We had not expected the level of friendliness and local pride that we encountered among the people in the places we visited. First and foremost among the friends we made were our hosts at Casa Marilena. They went out of their way to insure our comfort and appreciation of the region. Without being intrusive, they shared their knowledge of local craftsmen, artists, products, and even farmers that grew local produce so we could adequately capture the flavor of the region. Our hosts were gracious and generous with their time and insured an unforgettable experience. We were surprised that we were the first Americans they had hosted. In that regard, we will highly recommend the service and the experience to our friends in the U.S. It was truly an undiscovered gem.
We could not have wished for a warmer welcome from Franco, Marilena and Allessandro at 'Casa Marilena' with fresh fruit and flowers on the table and wine in the fridge. We were immediately at home in this beautiful, hidden gem of a town, perched on the top of a hill with magnificent views all around us. Our hosts were able to advise us on places to visit, food to eat and brought us up to speed with the history and culture of the area, even cooking us a typical Italian meal, from local produce, in their home with splendid wines to accompany each course.Conversations with our hosts were done in a mixture of Italian and English, each of us learning a little from the other, which made for some entertaining discussions. We were encouraged to enjoy the garden with it's wealth of fragrant flowers and shrubs and herbs to enhance our cooking.Casa Marilena is a comfortable, well equipped holiday apartment and we would recommend it to anyone who likes peace and quiet, good food and wine and discovering the real Italy.
Wunderschönes Haus in Verucchio.
Terasse
