Why Barbie Koenig chose Lake Lure
We love the area in and around Lake Lure. Rumbling Bald has so many amenities and memories for us since we were young. After my Dad retired from the phone company, he moved us to Lake Lure and purchased a lot in Rumbling Bald and built a house. I was 15 at the time and learned to play golf and water ski. As a teen, I worked so many different jobs at Rumbling Bald, I lost count. We currently live in Florida due to an aging parent but we love to get back to the mountains every chance we get. Our grandkids are only an hour away so it gives us a great place to meet and enjoy them. They love coming here to swim, fish and hike and spend time in the mountains.
What makes this House unique
This spacious home sits at the end of a quiet mountain culdesac with winter views of the mountains range. Imagine yourself waking up and enjoying a beverage on the 40 foot screened porch while the mist burns off the mountains. The beautifully appointed furniture and decorations have your extreme comfort and pleasure in mind. We love to see the wildlife roaming around and we hope you enjoy the peace and quiet of the area as much as we do.

House was amazing. Plenty of room, clean, organized with everything we needed.
Our group had a wonderful time at the property even with the rain. We rented the house as a way to relax at the end of the school year. We often started mornings with coffee on the back porch. The house was at the end of a cul-de-sac so it was very quiet. We saw lots of wild turkeys and a herd of deer. The house was close (approximately 25 minutes) to Chimney Rock and several wineries. The kitchen was fully stocked with every appliance, pot or pan a person could want. We especially enjoyed the massage chair in the guest bedroom. We are already planning our trip for next year.
Plenty of space
Wonderful property for 8+ people. Screened in porch was great. conveniently located short distance from resort. Enjoyed resort amenities..
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was big and comfortable. Really enjoyed the porch plus the games rooms were great.
The only drawback for use was that the gravel driveway was difficult to use. But we hope to be back another year.
Thank you for the review. There was a lot of rain in the area prior to your arrival and nobody told us the driveway needed scraped. We are working on getting it paved. I am glad you enjoyed yourselves and had a great time and look forward to you coming back.
We had a great time at our Lake Lure retreat except when we had to leave or return. It is far out of civilization! We did not enjoy the driveway. We got stuck and had to finally get a running start to get out! After 7 tries we got out and then parked up above the house. The track up the hill of a driveway every time we went out was not terrible but inconvenient until we had to drag our suitcases up the 90 degree driveway. Horrible! This is a better stay for younger people. We had a Honda Pilot and it could not climb the driveway! Not much sympathy from the owner.
Sorry you felt that you were inconvenienced but maybe when you plan a trip you need to review your destination because Lake Lure is in the Mountains of North Carolina and is a very beautiful place and a lot of people go to the rural areas to get away from civilization. I am sorry there was a lot of rain prior to your trip and you had trouble getting up the driveway but as indicated when you called, I advised to drive up from the bottom and not from the middle. We both have 2 wheel drive vehicles and have no issues getting up and down it but I guess we are used to it.
