The Lieutenant's Island Beach House is a sparkling contemporary on 6 acres with panoramic bay and marsh views from every room. Shores of Eastham, Orleans, Brewster, and Dennis can be seen to the south, Blackfish Creek, Indian Neck and Pleasant Point to the north.

Light, breezy, comfortable, and fully equipped for a vacation to treasure, it's a short walk in any direction to the island's warm water beaches. Relax on any of 5 decks.

Dine alfresco on the screen porch. Curl up with a movie or a good book in the cozy den. The night sky is amazing; the stars really seem close enough to touch.

Relaxing and Gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the privilege of staying at the Beach House on Lieutenant's Island and I must say that we throughly enjoyed our time there. The house has so much to offer for a relaxing unplugged vacation. The days were spent kayaking around the island, due to the owner graciously providing all the tide information for us. We were informed about when the tide prevents travel so that our days were easy to plan.

In the main room there is a piano to play while enjoying the view, which made for wonderful family time.

The various decks with chaise lounge chairs were perfect for enjoying a summer read. Sleeping in bedrooms with views and the sound of the sea made for a restful night of sleep.

We look forward to staying at the Beach House next year!

Nice views - but you should know about the tide!!

  • 3 of 5

A group of us stayed a week over the 4th of July. The house is a little more outdated than what shows on the website pictures but overall it's a fine place to stay and the marsh/water views are very pretty. If you want to sit on the decks, you can choose one based on the breeze but they are all nice.

The main issue that isn't listed here (and i thought people should know) is the tide factor. There are certain times each day where high tide prohibits you from coming and/or going from the house for about 2 hours. If you plan on spending most of your time relaxing at the house and walking to the one beach that is relatively close (very quiet, not a lot of people if thats what you like) - you'll be fine. We wanted to visit the Cahoun Hollow Beach and some other activiies and found it restricted us or forced us to go back to the house before we were ready (or wait it out too late).

Once again, not a bad place to stay at all -- but I felt people should know about the tide so you can make an appropriate call on where you want to stay.

Map

The island beaches are perfect for swimming and kayaking. There are moorings available for small craft. Boat on Blackfish Creek, Wellfleet Harbor, and Cape Cod Bay. Bring your fishing pole and snag flounder, striped bass, or bluefish. Purchase a shellfish license and find out for yourself why Wellfleet's oysters are the best in the world.

Small children will enjoy exploring the tidal pools for fiddler, hermit, and horseshoe crabs. Bike 2 mi. to the Atlantic surf and the National Seashore. A beach permit allows you 4 ocean beaches and 5 picturesque fresh water ponds.

Golf at Chequesett or Highland Light. Gallery-hop, join a fishing excursion, or dance on Wellfleet's pier. For whalewatching, people watching, out-of-the-ordinary shopping, dune touring, fine dining, and rip-roaring nightlife, Provincetown, 25 minutes away, is not to be missed. Boston is 20 minutes by plane or 90 minutes by ferry from P-town. Ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard leave from Hyannis.
