Charming Lakefront Home
We loved the house, the yard, and the proximity to the lake. Nice kitchen, too! The kids loved the play room and all the board games. Sue was very helpful and accomodating. We'd love to go back some day.
Quiet weekend by the lake
My three kids and I had a wonderful stay in this home! It was very spacious and had everything we needed for a quiet but active fall weekend. We climbed Mount Major, played golf, kayaked on the lake, and enjoyed quiet time on the porch with a view of the lake. The weather got cold enough to This property was a very good value and I highly recommend it.
Great place for a relaxing weekend!
We loved spending our weekend at the lake house! It's great for kids! My son loved the awesome selection of games and toys that was offered at the house. The lake is narrow and small, reminds more of a river. We had a great experience!
Thank you so much for the review. We wanted to respond about the lake comment. The house is on the narrow part of the Lake, which does look like a river, this is nice because it is a quiet, "no-wake" zone. The Lake opens up, either right or left of this narrow section, which can accommodate boats and water skiing.
lovely lake house
We had a wonderful time at the house - swimming, kayaking, playing tennis at The Association courts. I wish we had 2 weeks there to enjoy more lazy days on the porch with a good book. I would definitely come back.
Great house and location for the price
We've rented houses in Maine/NH in a similar or slightly higher price range the last few years and this one is the best we've seen. The house is in great condition and the home association has lots of amenities.
The house has a large living room upstairs with comfy couches and chairs, and a game room downstairs that got used by the kids. It has a nice kitchen, and a fairly new dishwasher and washer/dryer that were very convenient. Having two showers is also a plus. There's an additional play room for the kids, and also a screened in porch for lounging. The gas grill works great and there is one picnic table on the deck and another on the back lawn. Living room has AC is good working condition. We used both the fireplace and firepit, and there is a large stack of wood available so we didn't have to buy any.
The lake is long and a bit like a barbell because there are two open areas on each end and a narrow part in the middle. The house is in the narrow part where boats don't move quickly, so it's quieter than the other areas. We rented the kayaks from the owner and used them quite a bit. The beach front and dock are nice.
The only downsides we noticed were that the house is on an unpaved road (not really a big deal) and there are some weeds on the bottom of the lake, though you only notice those if you wade out beyond the sandy beach area. For floating, kayaking and boating you wouldn't even notice.
We also used a bunch of the amenities that are owned by the home association. We used the six-hole golf course a few times, which is fun to play on for amateurs. Also used the swimming pool and association beach on Half Moon Lake.
Definitely worth checking out.
Thanks for the great write up!
Regarding the dirt road, this is an ongoing 3 year project to replace the water main. The road should be repaved, hopefully, by summer 2018.
Perfect place on the lake. Family loved it.
We spent a week there with other family members. There was plenty of room and games for the kids to do. The weather was perfect and the lake was beautiful. The house is located in a no wake zone which was perfect for the little one in the water. The fishing was great and the kayaks were awesome first thing in the morning. We saw a family of little ducks pretty much every day...the kids loved it. We had a question for Sue and she responded within a couple hours. Pleasure to work with.
Do as much or as little as you want! The Association offers playgrounds, two swimming pools, 6 hole golf course, ball field, 2 tennis courts and Private Association Beaches on both Locke and Halfmoon Lakes.
