'Sconset is an historic village at the eastern end of Nantucket. Its sandy beaches are pristine and quiet. Seals splash around in September.

Biking or walking is the best way to see the village.

There is a safe bike trail from 'Sconset to Town or you can use the Wave bus for only $2.00 each way and even put your bike on it.

During July and August at the 'Siasconset Casino', the public is invited to see current movies in the evenings.

There is also tennis in Sconset and a public golf course.

The local market has food supplies, as well as freshly baked blueberry muffins and ice cream.

For dining out, the Chanticleer restaurant is quite lovely, as is the Summer House.

Great Sconset Location

  • 5 of 5

The Dinghy is ideally located for walking to the Sconset Market, The Summer House, the Sconset beach or for enjoying the incredible Sconset Cliff Walk. The Dinghy is a Sconset cottage in a quiet neighborhood with a private yard perfectly suited for cookouts or just enjoying the outdoors. The owner could not have been nicer to us. My wife and I were delayed in arriving at the Dinghy by one day, since ferry service to Nantucket was cancelled due to the Labor Day storm. The owner upon learning of our delay extended our stay by one day at no charge. We really appreciated the extra day, since Nantucket in general but Sconset specifically is a very special place.

Charming Cottage. Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great month long stay this July. While the cottage is small (2 BRs), it is perfect for a small family like ours. Walk to everything the wonderful village of 'Sconset has to offer. This is an older 'Sconset cottage with all the charming features that go with that. Great dining table for small casual dinners with friends. Loved it!

Owner's Response: I'm sorry and surprised these tenants feel this way, as I have been renting this cottage for over 40 years and this has been my only complaint. These people are intelligent and sophisticated tenants whom I'm certain researched thoroughly information about this cottage and obviously found no negative comments. The place was cleaned one week prior to their occupying it and bugs do get into beach cottages and die. I sent my cleaner back to clean to the tenants satisfaction and agreed to pay for that additional service, A plumbing problem beyond both the tenants and owners control caused these tenants to leave early. I had a plumber repair the problem within three hours of being notified and within eight hours any residual mess was cleaned up. I had a right on insisting them honoring the remaining terms of their lease because the problem was resolved, but I understand they were unhappy, so I agreed to terminate their lease and return the deposit of their unused rent. They did not leave the unit in the condition they found it, and after the cleaner returns it to that condition, they will receive their security deposit. This is the busiest time of the year in Nantucket and the department of public works, plumbers and clean up crews are swamped dealing with these kinds of problems.
