We had a great time here. The house is comfortable and secluded with beautiful views and a nice trail that leads down to the water.
Perfect introduction to all Maine has to offer!
We fell in love with Maine, thanks to our beautiful experiences at 1832 Island Farmhouse! The home was comfortable (we stayed for a month with no regrets) and because of its age and furnishings, it gave us an authentic Maine experience. The property is magnificent— flowers, views, wildlife, even fresh rhubarb to make pies was just steps outside the back door! We ate most meals on one of the inviting porches and cocktails were even more special enjoyed outdoors in the evening. The location was perfect, with Stonington and all it has to offer nearby and Bar Harbor, Blue Hill and Ellsworth within a short drive. We had so much fun exploring the area, especially enjoying the local farmers markets with the most amazing, locally sourced, fresh foods that were available there. OMG! So good!
The owner, Tom, although not in the area, was always quick to respond to our questions. He and his local family were helpful, friendly and responsive. We wish they were our neighbors year round!
We had only one crazy experience and that was because our dogs were enjoying being there as much as we were. Vivian came back one evening with porcupine quills stuck in her nose so we learned from that scary incident leashes were the safest bet for our two girls!
We can’t wait to return to Maine! It’s the perfect place for us to be come summer.
David’s family home is such a hidden gem. This was our second year up and we stayed for the week July 4th. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. The house is full of history on every wall and the property is great for the kids to explore. The Little Deer Isle location is perfect, quiet yet close to all the action in Stonington. Our family now looks forward our week in Maine each year! Thank you for sharing this special place.
