Pirate Point Cottage is a new log cabin in a sheltered cove on the Damariscotta River. Here you can explore the tidal brook, kayak, canoe, or swim. You can anchor your boat or beach it. The cabin has two bedrooms upstairs, an office/studio downstairs with a sleeping couch, a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and dining.
There is also a large screened-in porch which serves as an extra room. The deck is perfect for grilling or sitting in the sun and relaxing. Although this is not an island, water surrounds you on 3 sides. From the charming walking bridge you can board your kayak and paddle out of the cove to the wider Damariscotta River. Many islands and inlets are here for exploration.
Stayed here on our Honeymoon was excellent. Would love to come back in the future years.
This is a great vacation get away. If you are looking for relaxtion and nature at its best this is the place to do it. The cabin was lovely and perfect. The large screened porch made for quiet evenings and the secluded cove perfect for kayaking and exploring. The owner Pete was the most wonderful man who gave us the history of the cabin that he himself built. It was perfect in every way. He also provided us with advice for visiting the many wonderful local sites and guided us to the best kayaking site that we thoroughly enjoyed and is a must to experience..All our comfort needs were met and we look forward to visiting again.
My wife and I stayed at "Pirate Point" over Columbus Day weekend and we had a fantastic time! Pete was incredibly accommodating! We enjoyed the fall foliage, took a paddle in their kayaks around the coves, and enjoyed their extremely well maintained cottage. It could easily host a big group or is a nice spot to a couple to get away.
And to round out the full Maine experience, we saw a HUGE moose while taking a late afternoon drive! We are definitely planning to stay here again.
Although you may want to sit on the porch or explore the cove, there are many sites to see close by. Pemaquid Beach Park is a 15 minute drive, Wawenok Golf Course is only 2 miles from the main road, shopping in Damariscotta is a short distance, the historic Fort William Henry archeological site, Pemaquid Light, South Bristol and Christmas Cove are all close by. The Boothbay Region is a favorite day trip.
