About the property

Luxury three bedroom cabin in peaceful sunny valley near the coast

Woodcutters is a comfortable, luxurious fully-equipped cabin nestling in a quiet, sheltered valley only 1.5 miles from Bantham beach. Large enough for a family of six - loft bedroom only suitable for children or teenagers - but still cosy enough for couples to enjoy this beautiful cabin. Perfect for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet still be near the tourist attractions of the south hams area of Devon. Five minutes away by car, Bantham beach is a surfers paradise and from there you can walk the coastal path in either direction as far as your feet will take you. The scenery is superb and there are many beaches and coves along the way. Further afield you can visit Salcombe, Dartmouth, Totnes, Noss mayo, newton Ferrers, kings bridge and many lovely villages.

Woodcutters is one of only six privately owned cabins in the idyllic setting of buck land park. It is managed, maintained and continuously updated by its owners to provide superbly comfortable accommodation.

Approached by steps up to the open deck you enter through double doors into the cosy lounge. There is a sofa and three chairs, TV/DVD, electric wall heater and wood-burning stove for chilly evenings. The open plan kitchen leads off the lounge, is beautifully decorated and has a pine table with six chairs, fridge-freezer, oven, hob, microwave and washing machine.

The twin and double bedrooms open off the lounge. Spacious rooms with ample storage space, bedside cabinets and electric wall heaters. The large bathroom has bath with shower over, wc, washbasin and electric heated towel rail.

Space saver stairs lead upstairs to the large twin bedroom/playroom with its velux windows looking out over the hillside ideal for children or teenagers. (this room is not suitable for babies or small children )

Outside is a secluded sunny private garden with picnic table - a perfect place to relax in the evening whilst enjoying views of the hillside and listening to the babbling stream below the cabin.

Perfect peaceful little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful quiet spot, perfect for a relaxing break. Easy to get to beaches and nearby places from this cottage, as long as you don't mind the narrow winding roads. Great for families. We will definitely try and come back!

Perfect hidewaway

  • 5 of 5

We had only a 3 night stay at the Woodcutters but what a lovely 3 nights it was!

It is a lovely place tucked away down a narrow lane in a beautiful valley. The garden was so well kept and stunning to sit in with views all around and so much wildlife to see. Our two boys aged 7 and 9 loved it and want us to book to stay there again soon but for longer next time.

On a practical note the property had everything you needed and there were plenty of fresh towels. There is no phone signal here (which we loved) but with a landline there you are still connected to the outside world if needs arise.

All in all this is a perfect place to stay to get away from it all but still easy to access lots of wonderful attractions that Devon has to offer. We would recommend this property to other families alike.

Owner's Response: What a lovely review, thank you Clare. We share your feelings, but have to admit to being a bit biased. We also find it is very popular to couples to do a bit of relaxing, exploring or chilling out.

A great place to escape from modern life

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little wooden cottage hidden away off the narrow Devon lanes by narrower drive to bottom of the valley

Only draw back for dog owners is this steep drive has to be tackled before you access any of the surrounding foot paths.

Also bantham beach restricts dogs.

The property itself was perfect for our needs with crisp white bedding and plenty of towels. Kitchen well equipt.

Surrounded by fields and a bubbling brook very tranquil setting and the stars at night were breath taking.

A small fenced in section beside cottage was great to house the dogs as we unloaded and reloaded the car as the main garden is open to the very quiet driveway.

Overall the property was clean I think because we were there at the end of the season things like the cooker hood and splash backs weren't quite as shiny.

The owner was a pleasure to deal with and just left us to it some properties we reviewed it sounds like the owners would pop over everyday which would have driven me crazy

It's a beautiful part ok the uk just the driving shouldn't be tackled by the faint hearted

Pure quiet and recreation

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place to spend the holidays and to relax. Great and immediate communication with John via email. Questions were answered at once. During the two weeks at Woodcutters we didn't miss anything. The listing description corresponded exactly to our ideas and we spent some relaxing evenings on the terrace. Our daughter was excited about the wonderful Bantham Beach (1.5 miles away) and its various possibilities of sport activities. We have already recommended this nice location to several friends, and also we want to come back. Devon as we love it.
