Sconset Charmer is situated in the heart of Sconset Village and is a very short walk to the beach, restaurants and the Sconset Casino. The house has two bedrooms (each with A/C units), washer/dryer, and a full bath with tub and shower on the second floor. One bedroom has a queen bed; the other has two twin beds and an additional twin trundle. The first floor features an open living room with gas wood stove; kitchen with dishwasher; dining area surrounded by windows and a half bath.

There are lots of window in this house, great furnishings and electric heat. There are two covered porches - one with a dining table and sitting area overlooking a small, private yard surrounded by Privet. The other porch overlooks Shell Street. You're a two minute walk to the Island trolley service, Sconset Market, beach and Village restaurants. There's a dedicated parking space adjacent to this home. Pets are welcome!

Disappointed in treatment by owner...

We have rented many houses in Siasconset, and never regretted a booking until renting this property. For the price, we were a bit disappointed in how rundown the house appeared. The side porch was overgrown, the bathrooms were old with rusted heaters, the linens, pillows and paint on the walls very tired. We discovered the wash machine was broken after our first day. The caretaker was very nice - by our third day he informed us that the wash machine would have to be replaced and he hoped to have a machine delivered before our departure, one never came. No fault of anyone's it was unusually hot the week of our stay. Halfway through our trip it became unbearably hot - we felt like we were on a bad camping trip with no air conditioning except in the 2 bedrooms. We were having to reuse dirty clothes and towels, as we packed light (banking on the use of a washer in our rental beach house). I asked the caretaker if we could get some wash done. He suggested a laundromat mid island. By this point we were thoroughly frustrated. I didn't want to spend one of my precious seven days on Nantucket, lugging laundry across town. I called the owner and suggested she pay to have our clothes laundered since we paid for a rental home which was supposed to include a washer and dryer. She explained that things happen, and that it was already going to cost her a lot of money to replace the broken washer. We did leave a substantial amount of dirty towels and linens - including some sheets and duvets with stains from sick children. Since I didn't have a machine to wash, I hand scrubbed the best I could and left the linens in a pile. Not surprising it took her cleaning lady much longer to clean and do laundry. The owner not only kept half of our deposit, but sent me an unkind letter with a bill for the extra loads of laundry she had to pay for. I followed up with a letter (which she never acknowledged), expressing my frustration that she could only see things from her perspective. The owner didn't seem to grasp that when she rents her home - we are not paying to subsidize her mortgage - we expect to receive what was promised in the rental contract. At the end of the day, if the owner had sent someone to do our wash halfway through our stay - and had expressed any concern over how the broken washer might impact our vacation - I would be writing a very different review. I can deal with a tired property and a broken washer, but not someone who treats people so poorly.

Owner's Response: For more than 10 years we’ve welcomed people to our home on Nantucket, and this is the first time we have had a negative experience with a guest. We are saddened by the way this guest treated our home and our on-island team, and are disappointed in the condition of the house and its contents upon their departure. We respectfully disagree with the assertions this guest has made and we would not rent to her again. We have received no other complaints this season - or any other season - about the quality of our home. In the spring a local company painted the interior of the house and exterior trim. They have an excellent reputation, as does our island landscaping company. They’d both be disappointed to learn that a guest wrote that their work was subpar. In addition, there are two caretakers that have been with us for many years who clean, as well as resolve house issues and offer guests island advice and recommendations. They are among the best on the Island and our guests are always appreciative of their hard work and help. We are thankful for the many guests who have enjoyed our home over the past 10 years and find it unfortunate that, despite all of our efforts, we weren’t able to make this guest happy.

Located in the heart of village of Sconset, this home is a quick walk to the Beach (with lifeguard). Four restaurants are located in Sconset Village, along with a food market, post office and liquor store. Island trolley service and bikes path are very close by. Lovely back yard with covered deck. Dedicated parking space.
