Ciao!! We are Sonia, Alessandro, our uncle Franco ... and Valerio (our 'big' 8 years old son) and Tiziano (our 'small' 6 years old son) from Rome.
Matching our love for traveling with the love for our city and its beautiful historical center, we decided to rent our small and peaceful 'nest' to other 'travel lovers' that wished to visit the Eternal City.
Sonia purchased this apartment in 2004
We always wanted a house in the center of Rome to live:
the Rome of the Roman Republic
the Rome of the Roman Empire
the Rome of the Catholic Middle Ages
the Rome of the Catholic Renaissance
the Rome of the Catholic ‘600
the Rome of good food
the Rome of the gardens and roses
the nightlife of a Rome that never sleeps
... ... ... ... ... .... and all this is just a small list of the many “faces” of our city.
Mind you, the world is really very interesting and beautiful, we love to travel, we sailed south of Turkey, we slept on a double bed just under the night stars on a sandy desert dune, we were stuck between Isralel and Jordan, Alessandro adores Asia, Sonia has lived in New York, we love food and tastes very different from ours like Thai or Northern India, we are working for American companies and we appreciate a lot of other cultures ... but Rome is Rome :-)))))
We searched and found a small house in the center “of the center of Rome”, with the idea of being part of a long history.
We personally live a little out from the center but still close to a historic place, we are at Ponte Milvio (various battles as the Senate of Rome against Pompey, Constantine against Maxentius, and centuries after, Garibaldi “The 2 Worlds’ Hero” against the French.)
As you may have understood we love our city, or better “our cities”, very much, if you want to understand why, come to find it out in the Eternal City: we’ll be waiting for you with great pleasure!
Upon arrival uncle Franco was there to greet us. We didn't know too much about the neighborhood and Franco took the time to show us around, and make us feel comfortable. The apartment is adorable! I was traveling with my sister and it was exactly what we needed. There are lots of cute shops on the street, and an amazing restaurant called Bric enoteca a couple of doors down. The apt is very central to all of the sights in Rome. Overall we had a wonderful experience. I can't wait to come back!!!
We truly enjoyed our experience at 75 Via del Pellegrino. Sonia communicated clearly while making the arrangements. And Uncle Franco did an excellent job showing us both the apartment and where we could go for food, wine and any other things we needed. a great apartment for two people as the 'second bed' area became our sitting room. Would also work for four, of course.
Location was pretty much perfect. So close to Campo di Fiori and Piazza Navona. And, in fact, within easy walking distance of most of the major attractions. No security anxiety at all either at the apartment or while walking around.
And, when we didn't want to walk, the bus lines were close. Bus information displayed at the stops.
We used Google Maps while walking and when we took the bus. Very useful and accurate information. We could state when and where we wanted to go and the walking routes or the bus route number, times, and number of stops before getting off came right up on our phone. With the number of streets and intersections, a little help is pretty much mandatory..
Finally, Sonia and Uncle Franco arranged seamless transport from and to the airport! It was great to not have to worry about trains, cabs, etc. Just paid the driver when they picked us up. Rate was almost identical to the government regulated fare to the city center. No premium for the personal service.
We have other places we intend to travel, but if we do get back to Rome, we will seek to stay at 75 Via del Pellegrino again!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days. The location could not have been better for getting around on our own. The apartment had everything we needed--and Uncle Franco was a joy. We'll treasure our time here forever.
The location of this apartment was ideal for people like us who were first time visitors Rome. All the highlights of Rome were within a 25 minute walk. The Pantheon and Piazza Navona were only a 10 minute walk away and even the Coliseum and Vatican could be reached in a 25 minute walk. There were lots of cafes and stores within just a few minutes stroll. Despite a little confusion on the dates, Sonia and Uncle Franco were able to accommodate us for the dates required and even made arrangements for a very late arrival (after 9pm!) due to our Sorrento tour arriving in Rome several hours later than planned. Franco made sure we were comfortable in the apartment, that we knew how to get around town, made recommendations on what to do and see, and even left us with maps and books on Rome so we could do a bit of reading up on the major sites. The ground floor apartment was clean and the AC unit quickly cooled things down. The only thing keeping us from saying 5 stars was that the bed mattress needs a refresh as it got a little uncomfortable after the first night. All in all, a great spot that we recommend and hope to return to one day!
The very functional apartment, located in the ground floor of an ancient building is in the perfect position to visit most of the landmarks of Rome. We have been welcomed by Franco. He very kindly showed us how to use the various appliances and position of local groucery shopping. The apartment is 1 minute walk from campo dei fiori, 10 to Trastevere or Piazza Navona. San Peter and Colosseum are within 20-25 min walk. We have been there during a very hot week 95+. Having the possibility to cool off during the hottest hours gave us the opportunity to make most of the day outside visiting Rome. The apartment is ok for 4 people. The small kitchen is functional but given the abundance of ristoranti and trattorie in the area you will hardly use it. The AC unit helps cooling off the apartment and removing some the humidity. The building is in a very safe area and surprisingly quite during the night.
Definitely recommended !
This apartment is in a great location for walking around Rome's center. It is just to the south of Corso Vittorio Emmanuel and easy access to the Colosseum and other landmarks. The apartment is very quaint and fits the antique style of the area.
My family was very happy with this property. The location in Campo Di Fiori was perfect for getting to all the sights. Zio Franco was very helpful during check in so that we would know where everything was in the neighborhood.
