About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Office, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-9)

This property, situated in the heart of the glorious Berkshire Mountains, is New England charm at its best. Located within minutes of Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company, Jacob's Pillow, BTF, shopping, festivals, fine dining, summer camps, and countless other Berkshire attractions, this home is your best bet for a getaway. Available year round, Silvernail Farm, which was built in 1825 and sits on five acres, is perfect for a family with children, or small groups traveling together. The gorgeous sweeping views from the back yard and kitchen window are breathtaking. When enjoying a meal or drink, 'al fresco' in the outdoor arbor, surrounded by wisteria, clematis, Moroccan hanging lanterns, and a gorgeous mountain view, one might think themselves in Tuscany! There is an ample yard for running plus a child's climber, swing-set and sandbox.

This three bedroom home has a master suite with a queen-sized bed and its own full bath with tub/shower combination. There are two other guest rooms each with two sets of twin beds. The two guest rooms share a second bathroom also with a tub/shower combination. Both bathrooms have good storage and are well maintained. All sheets and towels are all luxurious, high thread-count 100% cotton, and the beds all have fluffy down comforters. There is also a ground floor tv/den with a full sized daybed. Another full sofa-bed pulls out for more sleeping space. The third bathroom, with shower, is located on the ground floor, near the kitchen and Laundry room - perfect for children to shower while you make dinner...

The eat-in kitchen is well-equipped with high-end appliances and gadgets you might need to make an elaborate meal. There is fantastic kitchen storage and prep areas and the views from the kitchen window - of rolling hills, changing fall color, drifting snow, or your children frolicking and playing tag in the large protected yard - is worth the drive up! The dining room, with a wood-burning fireplace, has seating for ten. There are toys, games, and books for visiting children. Wifi throughout and although there is not cable tv - there is a flat screen tv with dvd player!

The Berkshires is known for its wonderful shopping, restaurants, galleries, live theater, hiking trails, swimming holes, and ski resorts. We pretty much have it all here and West Stockbridge is central to all of these activities and more. Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow as well as many wonderful museums are all within a shirt drive through the most stunning roadways in the Northeast. This home provides a wide array of cultural recommendations as well as a thorough home-information packet.

Heat allowance cap applies to all winter bookings. NO smoking and well behaved pets are considered with a $150 pet fee.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé, 18 month old son and I had the pleasure of spending a month in this home between September and October, truly making this our home away from home. The location of the house was perfect for our needs. Close enough to the towns with plenty of activity, such as Great Barrington and Lenox but far enough away that we felt as though we had our space. West Stockbridge is a quiet town, which is one of the reasons we chose this location. We frequented No 6 Depot (great coffee and lunch items) but mainly went into GB for dinners, hikes, etc. It ends up being about a 20 minute drive so we were able to go back and forth easily. Stockbridge is even closer for museums like Norman Rockwell and Chesterwood.

The home itself was up to date where it counted but has a rustic feel to it which was appropriate considering the age of the home. If you are looking for a completely modern experience, this isn't the place for you. The house has a ton of character from the beautiful beams to the old doors and handles. Coming from South Florida where everything is "new" it was a welcomed change.

My fiancé is a former chef and the kitchen was right on point from the stove to the supplies provided. I think he cooked more in that month than the rest of the year combined! Our son loved the amount of property outside - he was given the chance to run around, play in the leaves, sandbox and a few times he took on the slide.

I was able to work from the house and never had issues with the wifi or phone service.

The views from the home are so serene; we even had a day where we had a picture perfect view of a rainbow over the mountain just before sunset. We are kind of wimps with cold weather but we did have one or two nights where we braved it for some fantastic star gazing on the hammock!

The only "issues" we had was that some of the furniture needed a bit of sprucing up, which sounds like is being done this year. Any other issue that arose was responsed to right away by Claudia's team but we didn't encounter anything major over the course of the month that wasn't livable.

My family is so excited to return next fall!

Stunning home

  • 5 of 5

Just finished a week with my husband and teenage sons in this lovely Berkshires home. Gorgeous views from each and every window. Decorated with contemporary aesthetic art work, comfortable furnishings, lovely bedrooms and well-equipped kitchen. Used the outdoor grill and fire pit which were both nicely supplied with all the necessary materials. Easy accessibility to Tanglewood, Stockbridge, Lenox and all our favorite swimming places. One of the nicest summer homes we have ever rented.

What a wonderful week at Silvernail Farm!

  • 5 of 5

The house is a traditional farmhouse with expected upgrades, very well appointed with a fully stocked cook's kitchen and Viking stove. There are plenty of blankets, games, and books for reading and relaxing. We loved our time in the hammock enjoying the warm sunshine, and the views of the rolling farms around the house are gorgeous. The location can't be beat, minutes from West Stockbridge with access to everything the Berkshires has to offer. It truly is a wonderful place to "get away from it all" and relax and recharge.

Already making plans to return! :)

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks at Silvernail Farm with our 5 yr old and 3 yr old and made some memories that we will not soon forget! This home is beautifully decorated, comfortable, welcoming, spotless, and really well set up for a family with children (e.g. outdoor play toys, a game closet full of puzzles and board games, a chest full of kids' DVDs). My most favorite things about this house is the large rectangular window right above the kitchen sink that provides a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery, and the hammock in the yard. The children played outside all day in the sandbox, the play structure, and on the tree swings. We used the grill to make dinner, and took advantage of the few rainy days to watch movies as a family. The house is extremely well situated to all the wonderful amenities of the Berkshires. We were able to attend multiple concerts at Tanglewood, as well as a show at Jacob's Pillow, and the Clark Art Institute. This house is a gem, and we are already making plans to return this Fall and next summer!

Silvernail is a DREAM of a house to get away to!!!

  • 5 of 5

We saw the images online and the communication with the owner and the rep was really informative and smooth so we decided to take the house for a week in July. We are doing a gut renovation on our kitchen all summer so we were really excited to have a great big kitchen to work with. Upon arrival we were blown away by the land around the house. Even better than the pictures. The kids were DELIGHTED, immediately running to the tree swings. The house is gorgeous inside and out with most every amenity you would need. The interior is clean and spacious and the kitchen is awesome with the nice Viking range. We loved the decor, very tasteful. We were actually enamored by the gorgeous well maintained original wood floors upstairs and the newer ones downstairs. In our 1909 house a lot of the wood creaks especially on stairs and it drives us crazy. At Silvernail, we could walk around at night with the kids fast asleep and not one creak. A very quality built house.

The area is really pretty and its easy to get around to everything around the Berkshires. We would load up the kids and go find a lake or pond or swimming hole every day to frolic in. We would then drive a longer distance so the kids could have a nice nap in the car. We hit Mass MoCA, Normal Rockwell, Kids Museum in Pittsfield, Bash Bish Falls, Shaker Village (which was awesome) and all the surrounding towns. It was just a great week for us. i even taught my son how to ride his bike on the driveway of Silvernail! We will stay here again I am sure of it! We had fun at the house and everywhere else!
