Oceanside Original Sea Pines beach cottage located on beach path on the most desirable beach in HHI, half way between South Beach and Harbour Town. It is the 4th house from the beach (about 200 yards) with no streets to cross- perfect for families with children. NEWLY RENOVATED living and kitchen area with open floorplan, great for entertaining! Perfect for two small families or one family plus grandparents! This house is kid tested and adult approved!

Three bedrooms and two baths upstairs (not yet renovated) - Master with king bed and in-suite bath and cable TV, second bedroom with two twin beds and third bedroom has a double bed. Refinished downstairs bedroom with queen bed and day bed(+trundle) and in-suite bath. Sleeps 9 adults. The House has digital cable, DVD/VCR, and free Wireless internet.

Enjoy morning coffee on the screened in porch or cook fresh seafood from the marina in the newly renovated kitchen.

Enjoy all that Sea Pines has to offer with miles of bike paths, horseback riding at Lawton Stables or sailing out of South Beach Marina. All these are just a short bike ride away from the house. This house is located on one of the best and least crowded beaches on the island even at the vacation season peak -- exclusive to property owners and their guests, there is plenty of room to spread out, ride your bike or walk to your heart's content.

South Beach Marina and Harbour Town offer a variety of dining and shopping options, as well as plethora of outdoor activities (parasailing, windsurfing, deep sea and shark fishing and dolphin watches), and nightly entertainment. Access to community pool for additional fee.

Location was awesome, house was fully stocked but could have been cleaner.

The location of this house was amazing, right off the boardwalk and the size of the house was perfect for our family of five! This home also is fully stocked so it comes with almost anything and everything you might need. The kitchen and main den were very well decorated. The only downside we found was that this home could have been much cleaner and the couch seating in the den was very uncomfortable from very worn out couch cushions. The rugs were stained in the bedrooms, showers were stained, the air vents were black from dirt and mold and the outdoor patio cushions on the screened porch were completely mildewed. Other then that, this is a great house and you cannot beat the location.

Owner's Response: Normally we would prefer to hear immediately if there are issues as housekeeping is responsive, reliable and happy to come by if needed. However we have shared the specific feedback with them as well to be sure they address the details. The house is cleaned weekly and additionally professionally steam cleaned multiple times per year. Anything not cleanable and that is stained generally gets removed & replaced. Unfortunately we do get occasional renters who do not treat the house as we would and we don't get that information back as quickly as we like. It should be clear in the previous reviews others have not had quite the same experience. Note (as stated in the listing description), bathrooms are not yet renovated - they are cleaned, bleached, tilex'd, etc. thoroughly weekly, but it's fair to say they are worn from being located 300 yards from the beach and salt air, hard water, and sand. However, they should not be dirty under normal circumstances. As for the 2nd couch/seating arrangement, it's relatively new (like nearly all of the furniture, beds, carpets, etc.), but could not agree more (note this is one of two couches in the same room together). It's something we just have not been able to replace in summer peak season yet, but it will be replaced asap given the feedback..

Winter getaway

Our two weeks at 5 Black Skimmer Road was an enjoyable vacation. The home was like staying at a cottage. We enjoyed our morning walks on the beach and cycling on the wonderful trails. Harbor Town and South Beach became our cycling stops for a coffee and muffin at the Sea Pines bakery or a cold drink on the dock at The Salty Dog.

Although we had a few maintenance issues that need taken care of (kitchen sink tap loose, one couch is slopping and a running toilet in the master bath) we enjoyed the location and the comfort of this home. Thank you for sharing your home.

Hope to book this home again next year.

Cozy Beach House

We had a wonderful time at 5 black Skimmer! It was easy to book and Charles was quick to respond to our questions. We loved the beautifully renovated kitchen/living space. There was a huge selection of books and videos. The downstairs bedroom/bath were perfect for our daughter and son in law with their 6 month old. It gave them privacy and room to chill. The downstairs screened porch was wonderful and having the refrigerator down there was awesome for storing beverages. There were several beach chairs that we used. While the upstairs bedrooms/baths are not renovated they were still very nice and the master bed was very comfortable. The close proximity to the beach is the best feature of this home! Less than a two minute leisurely walk. You are literally right on the beach path. We utilized the outdoor shower daily. My only thought was it would be nice to have a small table and chairs for dining inside. It was way too hot to eat on the screened porch in July. We would love to return to this lovely home.

Look forward to this the entire year!

We have been renting for the past 5 years and look forward to this the entire year. House is kid friendly, easy to walk to the beach and a great value. Location is perfect in a quiet street but close enough to salty dog and beach club for an easy parents night out. Landlord is easy to work with and very accommodating. I can't wait to rent again next year!

Great Time

This was the third year my family had stayed in this home. It is close to the beach and within biking distance of Harbour Town. We love that we can walk to the beach on a private path. The home is very nice and clean. We have zero complaints and hope to keep coming back each year. We highly recommend this property!

During peak Summer, Spring break, Memorial Day, Easter, RBC heritage golf tournament, etc. may require weekly (7 night or minimum 4 night) booking based on demand. Weekly is always Sat to Sat, off season days are flexible aside from minimum night stays. Usually within 3 weeks of arrival on open dates are more flexible in terms of minimum nights. Cancellation more than 60 calendar days prior to arrival permitted. Cancellation within 30 calendar days or less of arrival date incurs 50% cancellation fee.
