La Jolla Vacation Rentals
We chose to buy a vacation rental in this area as this is where we always want to live and in retirement we would like to live in this rental.
Most people love to utilize the boogie boards, beach wagon, bikes and beach toys.
It is such an easy stroll to the beach particularly if you want to load up the wagon with your icechest full of food and towells etc.
The Farmers Market every Sunday morning is a real treat and lots of our guests visit to listen to music, buy the flowers and organic fruits and vegies and also to eat the great food.
This was our first time with a month long vacation rental and we were not disappointed. The accomodations were as advertised, Michelle was extremely helpful with anything that came up (including having her daughter pet sit our two dogs when we overnighted on Catalina Island), and the neighborhood and La Jolla location were top notch. Don't miss dining at the Marine Room, George's, Jack's, or Trattoria Acqua and try the carry outs at Mandarin House and Sante. Jonathan's Market was a find for excellent (albeit somewhat pricey) meats, seafood, and produce. Outside La Jolla, we enjoyed field trips to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Cabrillo (Point Loma), Coronado (have lunch at the Del), the aforementioned Catalina Island, Torrey Pines State Preserve, and dining in Del Mar at Jake's and Il Fornaio. And the German cuisine at Kaiserhof in San Diego was outstanding!

The cottage is 2 blocks from the beach. It's an older.duplex but it's clean and has all essentials.
We cooked at home a few times to save money for other activities.
Only bad was some of the beach equipment was in poor repair.
This was our second stay here. The backyard is perfect for our dogs.
La Jolla is dog friendly and there are many restaurants that allowed them,
The beach is close and we watched the sunsets nightly. Can't wait to return!
Our family had a wonderful stay in the California Cottage. The house was very well equipped with everything, including bikes, beach toys, umbrella, cooler, boogie boards, washer and dryer, propane grill, and all other necessities. The back yard is a private, tropical paradise. The home is within a short walk to the beach and a short drive to the cove and La Jolla shores beach. There are also some great restaurants within walking distance. We will be back!
Stayed for 3 1/2 weeks with our 2 dogs. Loved that we were so close to the beautiful Pacific & a dog park & that we had a lovely small yard with grass & trees, as well as a patio. On some of the milder evenings we could have dinner outdoors & listen to the waves crashing. Kitchen well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, pots etc. Beds comfortable. Would be nice to have hooks or a coat tree by front door, for jackets & leashes, & a lock on the garage that belongs to the other rental, so they couldn't gain access to our yard. But those are minor complaints. We enjoyed our time there & would go again.
Michelle was very nice to allow us in a few hours early so we could watch the Super Bowl - many thanks!
Cottage was fine with about everything that you could ask for and the location is excellent - near everything including beaches, coffee shops, downtown La Jolla, and all services. I was a little worried about parking, but never has any problem. When we did have a problem with a table lamp, it was taken care of very quickly. We were impressed with all the "goodies" in the garage that help to make the vacation fun (beach chairs, bikes, boards, little wagon, etc. A very nice touch.
There are a few upgrades the cottage could use as well as some defered mantainance as it's getting well used, but all-in-all, it worked out great and worth the cost. We hope to return again in the next few years and will hope to stay again in the cottage.
Just 2.5 blocks from Windansea Beach, 15 minute walk into the Village of La Jolla and all the shops, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants.
