Davis and I can't remember how many vacations we've spent on the cove, but it always feels like coming home. Thank you both for your generous hospitality and the wonderfully warm special touches that make it so inviting. And you always bring us great weather and beautiful sunsets. We hate to leave...
Thank you both for giving us the opportunity to have such a great time on the cove! In the morning we loved to have breakfast on the patio with an excellent ocean view. We used to live in that area 10 years ago; so we enjoyed the amazing sunsets after a busy day of sightseeing and diving in our memories. Every evening it seemed to us like coming home. It was the perfect place for relaxing and preparing for the Boston Marathon 2009. We look foreward to seeing you again!

Having lived in MA for many, many years and now living in South Carolina, we always enjoy return visits to explore our favorite locations in greater depth. We were looking for a quiet place on/near the ocean to enjoy fall foliage. "On the Cove" met and exceeded our hopes and expectations. The apartment is large and open with loads of light and views from several vantage points. The kitchen is fully equipped and we enjoyed preparing quite a few meals to balance our dining out and dining in plan. The bed is super-comfortable and was dressed with high-quality linens. Though it was October and much of the garden had been put to bed, it was very clear that the landscaping has great bones and would no doubt be stunning in spring/summer. The owners were just so lovely and accommodating. We could go on and on. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly for your Cape Ann adventure.
However, we are from SW MO, so this was better than home! the seaside cottage feel of the walkout basement apt., made me forget We were actually sharing the house with the owners Stan, Sandy, and Katie! Our days were full driving around Cape Ann taking in Breakfast in downtown Gloucester at Sweet Magnolia's with pineapple fritters, clam chowder in Rockport, and up to dinner a short drive north to Portsmouth NH, down to eating tasty crab cakes at the Woods at the wharf in historic Plymouth. All info provided in our apt booklets provided by our hosts! as well as a bottle of wine, bottled water, Sodas, coffee, teas and the feeling they thought of everything and all first class! Daily newspapers greeted us at the door overlooking the private seating areas and protected cozy Lane's Cove. The furnishings were delightful, color and comfort. The place looks like a professional decorated it with great taste and love for the arts! We hated to leave, but 3 nights were all we had time for as we continued west to look at the fall color. Will definitely want to return!
Enjoyed my stay in this quiet, attractive, clean, comfortable apartment with a great view. Located in a very nice area with lots of things to do. Would recommend completely!
We recently stayed for 3 nights after travelling to Boston from Australia. Had considered going to Martha's Vineyard but happened upon Cape Anne. We thought it was fantastic, such a great location and outlook and very very comfortably set up, private from the main house, quite exceptional. The owners were most welcoming and informative. We enjoyed Duckworth's Bistro and also our drive to exclusive area on peninsular near Gloucester. If anything, thought property description undersold the apartment. Had we known how good it would be, we would have preferred to stay for longer and cut short our stay in Boston!
A lovely place to stay. There is a waterview from every window, comfortable furnishing, well equiped kitchen, and delightful and playful decor. The owners made us feel very welcome, particularly by the amenities they provide, and the information made available. The place feels more spacious than I imagined from the photos. We will surely return another time.
On historic Cape Ann, Gloucester is only one hour by train or car from Boston and is one of New England's best-kept summer vacation secrets. Made famous in the movie 'The Perfect Storm,' Gloucester has a rich maritime history and is the oldest working seaport and active artist colony in the United States. From early settlers to Hollywood filmmakers, the beauty of Cape Ann has drawn people from around the world. Gloucester's historic fishing port, Rockport's famous art galleries, the unique antique shops of Essex, and the old, New England charm of Manchester-by-the-Sea, make Cape Ann the perfect vacation destination.
Enjoy scenic coastlines from land or by boat, experience breathtaking beaches, dine in elegant restaurants, explore fascinating museums, and see for yourself why we're the Whale Watch Capital of the World. Lanesville is one of several quaint fishing villages encircling Cape Ann. Conveniently located about 10 minutes from either downtown Gloucester or downtown Rockport.
