We were a group of 4 adults 2 kids and a baby. We stayed at the house for a week and had a very good time. The house was very clean and is very charming. Everything was as advertised.
The lake is very pleasant for swimming and water sports. There is a supermarket 5 minutes drive from the house. There are a lot of things to do in the area.
We will definitely consider the house for a next vacation.
My friends and I rented the house for a weekend getaway and we had a great time staying here! The house was very clean and we loved the indoor/outdoor space. All of the bedrooms had AC, which was also very nice. There is a public beach a short walk away and boat rentals are reasonable/located close by. The owner was also very responsive and kind. We had a great time staying here!
Lake Wallenpaupack is beautiful. We would return again. The house we rented was not as advertised. It was to include all of the amenities of home (as indicated in advertisement). The house did not have DVD, Stereo, games or Satellite/cable TV. The kitchen was poorly equipped--no knives, no bakeware, no coffee pot, very limited on drinking glasses and kitchen cooking utensils. Comes complete with bath towels meant a closet full of old beach towels and no wash clothes. There was a very steep walkway down to the lake, but we were not permitted to use the dock-owner did notify us of this previous to our arrival. Overall the house is in poor condition, we were barely able to open the back deck sliding door, mold in the downstairs bathroom, bugs in the ceiling light in the kitchen, window and door screens were falling off... We contacted to the owner by e-mail a couple times, he was out of the country and unable to assist with issues. We would definitely return to Lake Wallenpaupack, but we would not rent this house again.
The location was great, but the house itself was O.K, needs kitchen utensils, screens on sliding door and windows, and hade a moldy smell. Wouldn't take much to make it a great house to stay in....I hope in the future they address the problems for there future guests.
The week my family and I spent there was a lot of fun, lots to do in the area, the house itself was a little run down and had a milldew smell through it, but otherwise quite comfortable for family and friends. The only thing I would suggest to the owners is that it needs the basics to be there like a broom, a bbq brush, and to put the screens in the doors and windows so you can keep them open.
Property was as expected. Room for the 7 of us, A kitchen with everything we needed. A great deck perfect for coffee in the AM or dinner in the PM. A huge fire pit for some'mores and easy access to activities around the lake. Don't expect 'lakefront' views - those are just not something easily available at this lake - but everything else is just fine.
Wallenpaupack is great for many outdoor activities. The possibilities are dependent on the season. In the winter, there are ski slopes that are minutes away, along with snow mobile trails and snow shoeing. The lakes completely freeze, so ice fishing is also a possibility. For fall and spring, hiking, fishing, and horseback riding, boating, white river rafting, paddling are available. It being a large lake, there are also a few marina's that have boat and kayak rentals.
