Skip the Cape traffic and get away to Westport. Enjoy a peaceful stay in this charming cottage. This bright, four bedroom home is set upon 4 acres of pasture down a long and quiet dirt road. Spectacular sunsets from the covered porch overlooking the Westport River top off days spent exploring the South Coast beaches and attractions. Dock and river access make this an ideal location for kayaking and fishing. Just five scenic miles to the ocean and a short walk to private tennis court.
We loved our visit at this beautiful home. It had all the "required" amenities and it was a peaceful, comfortable and quiet resting place for our family. It was great to kayak on the river early in the morning, and we enjoyed watching the sunset from the porch each night. Be sure to check out Buzzards Bay Brewery, which is within walking distance of the house.
We had a marvelous stay at this property. Simple, quiet, well maintained property in the town of Westport. Well stocked kitchen, and a nice breeze and sunlight throughout the house. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch all times of day, biking around the area was a treat and we found a really nice beach not too far away. The town has some nice features, strawberry picking, a local vineyard, a brewery (right down the road) and some nice places to eat. Breakfast at Marguerite's was a highlight. We took a nice drive over to Newport, RI one day. Great place to kick back and relax!!
This is our fifth time staying at this sweet, lovely home in Westport. There are many reasons we keep coming back. I swear, from the moment we turn onto the private lane, my heart rate slows down. My stress level drops exponentially. I can take deeper breaths, made even more enjoyable by the fresh country air.
The house itself is simple, four bedrooms, two baths...plenty of space to sit and relax, including a flat screen t.v and sitting area with a lovely view of the Westport River. The kitchen is well stocked and airy with everything one would need to fix up a lovely meal. For us, the best part, the part we look forward to most of all, is sitting on the long farmers porch, facing the river. There are two rockers and small table in between. We've sat for hours in those chairs, wine glass in hand, sky bright with colors from the setting sun.
The property itself is pretty big! Always mowed and well kept with lovely plantings and a clothes line (nothing better than sun dried towels for the beach, though there is a washer and dryer in the basement.). Plenty of parking and a lovely path is always mowed down to the dock, that it seems a few properties share. Lovely to walk out there and sit. We don't kayak, but I think people who did would be very happy for the convenience.
The past two years, we've enjoyed this home with our son, who is now 17 months old. What an incredible place to take a child! HorseNeck beach is a quick drive away (get there before 8:30 and you don't have to pay for parking!) and it is beautiful. The town of Westport itself is just, gorgeous. Rolling country side, farming, quaint antique shops. I honestly don't understand why anyone would ever go to cape cod when there's Westport. We never hit traffic, we always have an amazing time, and we are always sad to leave.
Samantha is awesome to work with. Very accommodating and friendly. I would highly recommend this property...but hopefully it doesn't get too busy...we need to come back next year!
