Guestbook comments from the owner

We "rocked the foundation" with our laughter! Thank you for providing wonderful accomodations for our 30th reunion. All of us ladies had a fabulous time. You were a great "judge" of our art projects Jeff, and so impartial too! We hope to return one day.

P.S. The two dishwashers were wonderful idea.

good but not great

  • 3 of 5

The home was well-supplied and well-planned, with lots of space, many bedrooms, two dishwashers and an abundance of plates, cups, glasses and utensils. When we arrived, we found a note from the owners that the air-conditioning was out due to over-use by previous guests. Since the owners knew the AC wasn't working, we expected repairs to the system. No effort was made to restore the AC. As a result, we spent one of the hottest weeks in the Pacific NW without relief even at night from the heat. To make matters worse, smoke from forest fires in British Columbia covered the area. Without AC, my 83 year old mother experienced sustained coughing requiring a visit to a doctor who diagnosed smoke-induced asthma. We had not anticipated adding a medical bill to our vacation expenses. While the home had two hot water heaters, for some reason they tripped three times during our 5 day stay. After resetting the water heaters the first time, we staggered our use of hot water, showering one at a time when a dishwasher was not in use. The water heaters tripped again anyway, once while we were sleeping and not even using hot water. As the house was described as on the waterfront, we were also surprised to find how far above the water the house was located. A walk to the rocky beach required traversing many flights of cinder block which was impossible for the older members of our group. Perhaps the description of the home should be updated to note lack of AC, how to reset the water heaters, and the difficulty of reaching the beach for all but the most agile people.

Peaceful and well-appointed meeting place

  • 5 of 5

Our group stayed at Eagle Cove for 2 nights for a non-profit board retreat, and it turned out to be a great space for a process that required that we have space to work, think, cook, and relax together. The large kitchen was one of the best-equipped kitchens we've had in all the facilities we've rented over the years. The beds were comfortable, linens clean, and there was plenty of room to spread out, when some people wanted to talk while other needed a quiet space.

Because it's on 3 floors, this home would not work if any member of our group had any mobility problems (there are a lot of stairs!), but if that's not an issue, we would rent this home again in a minute!

Great Choice

  • 4 of 5

This home was beautiful as were the views from many rooms. Our work team stayed here for our annual strategic planning retreat and we would definitely return. The owner was great to work with, too. SB
