This property has been in the family for 190 years. We rent it to try to keep the property in family ownership.
This home is a perfect distance from Stowe Mt. (close enough where you can be skiing 15 minutes after you leave the driveway but far enough where you can enjoy the peace, quiet, and serenity of the home's 43 surrounding acres).
The home's layout is perfect for spending quality time with family and friends when your are not on the slopes. The Kitchen, Game Area, and Living Room all overlook one another in the home's open concept.
I highly recommend this property and hope to return in
This was truly the perfect vacation home. It was surprisingly spacious and the floorplan is very accommodating for a large family. It is far more spacious and comfortable than the pictures make it appear.
The kitchen was extremely well equipped. I felt like I was in a friends home, not a rental with sparse urensils and dishes. The kids had a ball with the air hockey table and were very content to hang around all day and play games.
We came with our family of 6 and skied Stowe and Smugglers Notch. It was conveniently located between the both of them. The grocery store was a short distance away.
The only part I would warn anyone of is that you must drive through several miles of a wide dirt road. During our stay it was unseasonably warm and the roads became deep mud like quicksand. We barely made it up to the house several times in our minivan. Thankfully my husband is a very skilled driver and got us up even in the pouring rain. If it were me driving we would have slept in the van. Several times we had to back down and put in very low gear to get up the road. When the temps were freezing it was much easier on the dirt and ice than the deep mud. The driveway was not plowed and was snowy but we were able to make it up without too many problems.
Even with the difficulty driving through the deep mud, I would come again and again, any season, any time!! We drove a Toyota Sienna without the all wheel drive and made it so use that as your judge. I'm fairly positive my Honda Odyssey would have never made it in! Four wheel drive is prob best during wet seasons. This may have been an extreme week as there was lots of snow on the ground in Feb. but the temps rose to 60 defeees and rained so there was lots of melting going on!
The owners were extremely accommodating and lovely to deal with. We are so pleased with our relaxing vacation and truly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable home.
We enjoyed our time in Stowe, staying at this house outside of town. It has a rustic feel out in the woods, and is very peaceful and secluded. It had plenty of space for 8 of us to relax in and enjoy each other's company in a ranch home setting. The house had everything needed to have a comfortable stay. While communication with the owners was minimal, we found most things to be as described. We really enjoyed the fact it had a washer and dryer, as we went out hiking regularly (and came back sweaty!). A couple things to note: the air conditioning is window units, not central air, and the creek is not easy to access from the property. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!
the house was clean and comfertable. we had everything we needed and more.great for kids! thank you
I agree with most of the reviews on here. 4 bedrooms, kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and eating, tons of blankets and towels, and heat and hot water even down to below zero.
The price is right and they don't Jack the price up 50% for Presidents Week like most places in Stowe.
We also brought our 2 dogs and there is a ton of land for dogs to go crazy in.
A couple of suggestions though, not complaints. Get a better shovel for the porch and provide some ice melt or sand.
The one complaint...there was only one paddle for air hockey! We were seriously bummed about that. My wife and I love air hockey even if it is an old table and we're seriously looking forward to coming in from snowboarding and goofing off at night.
The house was a good size with a very good set up. We had plenty of room for two families. We came to Vermont to ski at Stowe which was about a half hour drive from the house.
The condition of the house was another story. The house was in serious need of attention. The wifi didn't work, there were some type of critters in the wall that kept us up all night, the water had a tinge of brown because it was so rusty. And it was not the cleanest place we have ever stayed. While the price was very reasonable, we probably would not return due to all the issues we encountered.
The home was just as described. The snow covered hill in the front was so much fun to sled down. It was clean and warm and cozy. We would definitely stay here again.
5 miles to Stowe Village or Ski Resort! Close to Village of Morristown and short drive to Johnson State College. Extremely quiet home but minutes away from all town conveniences. Located on Chaffee Road off Cole Hill Road in Morristown. Nearby covered bridge and many scenic routes.
Other Activities: sledding, hiking, canoeing, snowboarding, fall foliage, snowmobiling
