Lives on Scraggy Neck Cape Cod with three lovely daughters.
Chet Goon purchased this house in 2004
My passion is windsurfing and for decades I would chase the wind up and down the east coast and all along Cape Cod. I've been to just about every beach on Cape Cod and have seen many beautiful places. Comparatively, this spot is one of the best. The unobstructed prevailing southwest wind comes right up the coast and lands at my doorsteps. In the summer it brings clean refreshing air which keeps the bugs away and provides wind for all kinds of on the water fun: sailing, kite surfing and windsurfing. The house is roomy and comfortable. Its large desks are just perfect for parties with friends and love ones. The spacious green lawn means hours of fun. You are right on crystal clear Magansett with access to many activities. The island is private and safe for children. They can bike and run to the playground or to the sandy association beach which is minutes away. Or they can bike to the private clay tennis courts or playground on the far end of the island.
This home is a slice of heaven. There is so much right at your fingertips. Beautiful Megansette is your backyard, Just relax or enjoy the many fun activities this home has to offer. The views and access to the water is what makes this property unique. The location is perfect for family summer fun. You'll leave here with memories that'll last a lifetime.
I've had the pleasure of staying at this property on two separate occasions. Once with a group of friends and the other with my girlfriend. Both stays were wonderful.
The house has great views of the ocean. There is a large lawn and a wrap around deck that are great for relaxing.
The neighborhood is very quiet making for a restful stay.
The owner, Chet, is a very amiable guy. He's very quick to respond to questions about the property or your stay. I met him on the beach one morning while I was fishing. I found to be a very nice guy.
If you like to fish, this a great spot to catch all manner of Cape Cod's offerings.
I would certainly recommend renting this property for your vacation.
The house is on a private island off North Falmouth, with a private beach with two kayaks and a paddleboard, and nicer beaches nearby. The house is very large with a great view from the terrace, but it needs some basic upkeep (gas lighters need to be lit manually on the stove and the gas grill, many lights in the house don't work/need replacing, wallpaper in 2nd floor bathroom is peeling off the walls, some of the windows and doors don't open or lack screens).
We had an awkward afternoon one day during the week when we went to the "private beach" in back of the house and found an entire family there using the equipment and chairs. It turned out later they were related to the owner, who later apologized, but when you pay these kind of prices to rent a beachfront house, you shouldn't have to share it with someone else's family.
Also, it took some persuasion to get the "refundable cleaning deposit" back. It was initially treated as a fee rather than a refundable deposit.
All in all, great location, great view, less than great experience.
Our 4-person family rented this home for 2 weeks at a time in August 2009, 2010, and 2011. We also typically had other family members and friends come for a few days at a time as well.
The house has fantastic views from its elevated foundation across a large green lawn looking over the water. There is a fully functional kitchen, cavernous living room with triple height ceiling, large dining room, laundry room and bathroom on the first floor. Second floor has a bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom, and a large bedroom with great views and breeze. The topmost floor has another bedroom and bathroom and a little balcony for taking in the sea breeze.
The property is in a very private location on Scraggy Neck. Convenient to many shopping and dining areas but away from all the crowds. The beach is yours and yours alone with the occasional person walking past. Note that the beach directly in front of the house is mostly small stones which makes for terrific critter catching for the kids but 50 yards to the left is the start of a sandy beach. To the right is a breakwater which is a great place for fishing or taking in the sunsets.
Our family enjoyed swimming (the water in August in Buzzards bay is very warm unlike many other places on the Cape), crabbing, fishing, sailing. We also used the association's tennis courts and play ground. We brought our own sailing dingy and the consistent breeze makes the harbor a terrific place to sail, windsurf, or kite surf.
We have terrific memories of staying in this home and of Chet and his family's warmth and hospitality.
We came with my parents and a few of our children for a post-summer stay, and were very happy with the house and the setting. It was great to be on the water, and we had beautiful weather.
The house is quite spacious, with a third-floor "master suite", a second-floor water-side bedroom, and a second-floor bunk room. The kitchen was fully equipped and we had no problems cooking and eating there.
The kids enjoyed kayaking in the little protected bay facing the house, and we even got in the water a bit. (Shallow, so still fairly warm in late September.) It's a short drive from Scraggy Neck island to Bourne, Falmouth and most parts of the western Cape, and we enjoyed the same great restaurants that my folks have enjoyed for years.
Chet is a wonderful owner/host, and was immediately responsive to my emails and texts. He was also very flexible about our stay timing in the after-season. Highly recommended.
We just returned from a wonderful family trip to Cape Cod. The house is fantastic! The house is located on the water and it has a beautful view of Megansett harbor. The wrap around porch provides a great place to have a cup of coffee in the morning or a relaxing spot to end your evening. The yard is large, providing enough space for a family soccer game or friendly game of wiffle ball. The house is well maintained and the bedrooms are spacious. Our large family fit comfortably in the home.
There is plenty to do on the island including, tennis, fishing, biking, swimming, long walks on along the beach, clamming, sailing, paddle board and kayaking. The location provides easy access to the rest of Cape Cod as well.
The owner is wonderful. He made sure we were comfortable and attended to all of my needs. I highly recommend this house for your next summer rental!
