I was quite nervous prior to getting there since this was our first VRBO stay, ever. Still, Kiana had made the effort and had sent out a couple of communications a few weeks prior to our arrival and also a couple days before, asking us when our flight would be arriving, etc.
I was also worried that house would be close to a highway and about noise, etc.
All these fears were unfounded; Kiana made sure she was there when we were arriving and showed us the house which was bigger than I expected and extremely tidy and comfortable. Super clean, had all the advertised amenities. Even the small balcony was understated in the property description; it is big enough to sit whenever you want to, especially in the morning to drink your coffee and look at the mountain shrouded in fog.
Absolutely no noise despite the proximity to highway 61. The neighborhood is super quiet, at night there is a constant breeze coming from the ocean; we slept with the windows open and never felt we had to use the air conditioning despite being there in August, arguably the hottest and most humid month for Hawaii.
Kitchen was well equipped, bathrooms had plenty of very clean towels. It was like our own home. Kiana provided all sorts of beach items such as boogie boards, goggle, beach chairs, a beach umbrella. Nothing was missing.
The Kailua beach is a short 7-10 minute ride by car. You can also walk into town, if you want to and if you do not mind a 20-minute walk. Plenty of small restaurants to dine in, a Whole Foods is nearby but beware it is 2x as expensive as Whole Foods in the mainland.
Overall, a nice house to stay, quiet area and a great base to use for your daily excursions to wherever you go.
I will definitely look for Kiana's house if we come back to Oah'u.
We, a family of four, had a great time in the unit which easily accommodates 4+. Our host were extremely friendly and looked after all our needs. The spacious and clean unit (two floors) is much bigger than what the pictures show which was a positive surprise to us. The location is great especially if you want to do sightseeing too as the property is conveniently close to a main road (which you won't hear) just minutes from Kailua an the beaches and about 20 minutes from Honolulu (about 25 minutes to Waikiki and the Ala Moana Shopping Center). There are only positive things to say about this great place and without a hesitation we would stay there again.
We spent a week at this rental (April 2016). The location for us was perfect, as was the accommodations.
I spent weeks looking at different rentals in Kailua and specifically chose this rental for its space (sq footage) and location. The pictures and description are 100% accurate and Kiana was very good about answering questions (before and after my reservation was confirmed). The space was clean and there was a binder of information to help answer almost all other questions after arrival.
There were only 4 people (2 couples) staying here and we had more than enough space and plenty of privacy.
We encountered only one minor issue during our stay and Kiana was very quick to resolve the problem.
Everything we needed for our beach outings was available (towels and chairs).
Also, it was great to have a kitchen available if we wanted to cook and eat in.
I have family living in Kailua and everyone on the island is so friendly. Most of our time was spent with family, but there are great public tennis courts in town and it was within walking distance.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it as well.
Thank you Kiana for helping us have a great vacation!!
This property is perfectly located just after the Pali tunnels and just before Kailua town. It is conveniently located along Kalanianaole Hwy, the main road that goes all the way around the island of O'ahu. Iana & Ata are excellent hosts. You only see them when you want to or in passing. They even left us some homemade malasadas (local doughnuts) on our third day. We rented both the upstairs and downstairs units. Each were equipped with bedrooms, bathrooms, and living rooms. The upstairs has a full kitchen and an excellent view of the mountains. The neighborhood is middle class, safe, and private. You can get to most destinations within a 20 minute ride, not including rush hour traffic. We will definitely be staying here again.
Kiana's place was perfect for our family. We had 3 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room for us all. The home is even more spacious than the pictures appear. Great separate space for everyone so we weren't crawling on top of each other. Kiana and family were very welcoming. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki or in town.
Kailua Beach park has always been our favorite beach, but this trip, we also fell in love with Bellows and Waimanalo Beaches. Both were great for boogie boarding and close enough for a good walk/run (4 miles). There is also a great local farmers market where you can try different island fruits and food. A great adventure.
The home had all the amenities you could need to make your stay feel like you are in your own home! We appreciated the opportunity to stay here and hope we get to do it again soon.
Thank you Kiana and family! I hope others get to enjoy this wonderful find.
