Our 3rd visit- everything is wonderful as always. Nancy is like family, very helpful and gracious. We love coming here and hope other family members will come too. Mahalo.
This was our sixth visit to Kailua. We enjoy being away from the noise and traffic found in Honolulu. We spent over two weeks enjoying the warm weather and wonderful hospitality of our host Nancy. We spent most of our time in Kailua since traffic was never a problem. The beach is 5 minutes away with restaurants and grocery shopping close by. When we did decide to go to downtown Honolulu, it was less than 30 minutes away.
The rental unit is small, but with 2 A.C. and ceiling fans, it was always comfortable and clean. The new gazebo outside is great for enjoying the pleasant evenings. My wife was able to cook most of our meals which saves a lot on a vacation. The unit has a new washer dryer and a flat screen TV in both rooms. Besides the location, the best thing is Nancy (owner). She was so helpful and generous. We will continue to return here as we feel welcome on each visit.
We will gladly stay here again, everything you need (hikes, best beaches) is close by and Nancy is the perfect host
My husband and I stayed here for a week, and we are so glad we did. Nancy and her daughter were very kind and helpful from even before we got there. The space itself is cozy with two rooms- bedroom and another room with a futon and small dining area w/ little kitchenette- and a spacious bathroom. It's a very short drive from the beach where there are rentals for kayaks, snorkels, and other water activities. Honestly, we felt like we were at home. Having the washer and dryer there was great. Parking in front of Nancy's garden was never a problem, even on the few days we had two cars with us. There's an adorable bunny that likes to hang out in her garden- adorable. Everything worked just fined. The AC worked perfectly in both rooms. The tvs had all the basic and a few extra channels for the lazy days. The neighborhood is really quiet and clean, plus the house is really close to Target and Safeway, and many places to eat. Honestly, we'd probably stay there again if we could! Nancy was wonderful to even chat with when we'd catch her on the way in/out of her home. We forgot to sign the guestbook, and we feel bad because really, we had a great stay. We were even able to extend our stay an extra night with no problem. Definitely recommend!
We stayed at Nancy's Casa for 4 days while transitioning from Kailua back to the mainland. It was great. The bedroom/kitchen arrangement made it comfortable for our adult daughter plus my wife/myself. By comfortable - it provided two separate shared living areas. For 3 people it was a little tight (but good) and for 2 people would be more than adequate. Nice quiet neighborhood - short drive to beach or down-town Kailua. We will stay there again.
We stayed for 16 days, 2 male adults (not a couple, hehe), and we had a great stay. The house is in a dead-end street, so there's hardly any traffic or noise. The apartment was bigger than I imagined. The beds are in two different rooms, so there's also privacy. The master bed is very nice. The couch/daybed is actually more comfortable than you would think. Nancy is just the sweetest lady, and she was very helpful and even helped out with washing our clothes while we were out :)And on that note: Don't bring too much clothes, as you can just wash it here. Also, you're probably gonna shop some new while there. Save your luggage weight for shopping instead. You hardly need any clothes there anyway ;) I highly recommend having a rental car so you can hit the beaches and all the other nice scenery in O'ahu. We didn't use the gazebo or the bbq, but it looks nice. We did use the cooler and the boogie boards, though. 5 star. Buy some ice in a the supermarket and put it in the freezer, so you can fill the cooler each morning before going to the beach. The kitchenette was handy. We made breakfast and lunch there in the toastmaster instead of eating out all the time. Saves you a few bucks. We hardly used the AC, but we did use the ceiling fans. Wi-Fi is fast so you can stay in touch with those at home for free. I saw one or two roaches and one spider during our stay. That's hardly worth mentioning ;) When we're in Hawaii we're out most of the day. We just need a place to sleep and shower, basically. We also like the country, not the city. So this place was just perfect for us! Also, it makes a holiday in Hawaii quite affordable. Would stay there again!
I highly recommend Nancy's casa. It's a good bang for the buck indeed! We'll see you again, Nancy :)
The owner was very friendly & welcoming - and the property was very clean. It was super helpful to already have hand-soap, lotion, available, and there were a lot of extra beach towels for us to use. The Kitchen is small but well-stocked with utensils if you want to cook some meals. We even had a rice-cooker which came in handy for dinner! There was a barbecue for use, but we were usually out and about during the day time, so we didn’t try it out.
There were plenty of grocery stores, Target, etc, nearby in case we needed supplies. We would drive 8-9 minutes to get to Kailua beach to see the sunrise. Kailua beach had much better parking and bathroom facilities than Lanikai beach - Lanikai beach is supposed to be a great beach, but the lack of parking in the residential neighborhood makes it harder to actually reach it.
Overall Kailua is supposed to be the 'rainy side' of the island but, it rains for a little while and then it stops. We were hanging out on Kailua beach one day and it started raining, but we stayed in the water, and after a short while, it stopped, and we got to see a double-rainbow! It was beautiful!!!
We were exploring many parts of the island, and usually were out by sunrise and only came back after sunset, but we really enjoyed our stay!
