Only 45 minutes from Calais, this beautiful cottage is very well located, especially if going to Ypres, Poperinge or a day trip to Bruges. The cottage is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and incredibly well equipped. We were very impressed with how well maintained the property is and the caretaker was helpful and friendly. The garden is so big, with beautiful willows and a lovely view across the farmland. Our 3 year old son especially loved watching the tractors drive past. There is a delightful restaurant a short walk up the road that is very child friendly.
You have to drive a bit to the local shops. I really enjoyed cooking on the stove but it takes some getting used to as you have to wait for it to heat up. The children's room is on the mezzanine floor which might be unsuitable for very small children.
De Windewere was a very comfortable place to stay with excellent facilities and very clean. It was a good base for exploring the battlefield sites of the Great War as this was the primary purpose of our holiday.
We have had a fantastic holiday week in Windewere. The house is spacious and very private. The decor is pleasant and well kept and the house is very comfortably furnished. Lots of living space, good beds, a spacious kitchen with a good kitchen equipment, a bathroom, properly functioning equipment (dishwasher, washing machine, dryer) and a lovely terrace and large garden (where you can see a beautiful sunset). From the Windewere many excursions. The coast is 20 minutes away by car, Ieper, Diksmuide, Veurne, Plopsaland and France are also nice trips.
The Windewere is a perfect home where it really for nothing! A well maintained large house, DVD 's for children and adults, books, games and a huge garden. A perfect place from there excursions, De Panne, Furnes, Plopsaland, France, everything is within a half hour. In short: enjoy!
This house is very nice! We felt at home immediately. It is quiet in the countryside and has many facilities. The villages in the area are worth. In short: highly recommended!
