Middletown House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms+outdoor shower sleeps 8 comfortably

This family home was designed specifically to take advantage of its location on Easton's Point on the Atlantic Ocean. Every front room in the house has breathtaking ocean views. The great room, designed to resemble the inside of a ship, has a large stone fireplace. Directly outside there is a deck that runs the width of the house w/teak outdoor furniture & gas grill. A set of steps leads down to an outdoor shower. On the first floor - den with wireless internet access, a bathroom with shower & jacuzzi tub & small library with twin bed. Upstairs are 3 more bedrooms and a bathroom. You can swim right off our beach and launch our 2 kayaks. You can walk to Newport Beach at the end of the street. The Middletown beaches are a short distance. There are surf and windsurf lessons down the street a bike ride away. Downtown Newport is just minutes. This home is turn key and a Magical Place!

BEACHES: The beaches are great. The sophistication of the swimmers depends on the chosen beach. You can swim off the beach in front of the house. It is recommended that one wear swim shoes because it is rocky. You can walk down the shoreline towards Newport Beach and there are a couple of swimming holes that are fun. Off our beach you can also launch one or all of our 3 kayaks.

Newport Beach (aka Eastons Beach) -You can walk 1/4 mile down the Esplanade to Newport Beach. Or you can drive and pay the daily parking fee.

Second Beach- To the right about a mile is the beginning of Second Beach which is a National Park and stretches for miles. There is surfing at the beginning beach and you can park, rent surf boards and reserve a surf lesson.

Third Beach 1.5 miles - This beach is sheltered and does not get big waves. Young children learn to swim here and there is parking and lessons and rentals for wind surfing.

SPECTACULAR OCEAN SETTING: This is a magical place. The house sits on piece of land directly on the Atlantic Ocean with 'Maine' outcroppings. It is a spectacular setting. When you sit on the deck or in the Great Room you feel like you are on a ship. However you don't ever get sea sick. The house is lovingly cared for and anyone who visits it has wonderful memories. It was built as a warm family home and has a beautiful flow for living. There are days when you will not want to leave the deck. From the deck the sunsets are spectacular and many times you can see the fireworks in the area. Life doesn't get any better!!!

AMENITIES: The family uses the house during the off season and during parts of the summer. The house is kept Turn-key. Each bed is made when you arrive and has a down comforter and 100% cotton sheets. There is Barlow Tyrie on the deck and Cowton and Tout in the TV Room. Everything one needs is there. (ex. blow dryer, iron, a chess set) The kitchen has a bar sink, a Cuisinart, garbage disposal, electric kettle, rice maker cook books etc. There is a ramp leading up to the house and no front steps. The downstairs study has a hospital bed that raises up and down. There is a stone fireplace in the Great Room and logs on the property.

After the contract is signed you are given a outline of information about the house and the surrounding area and a departure punch list. Have Fun!

About Jean Sweeney

Our home was built by my father-in-law in 1990. He was a world famous maritime lawyer. We rent the property to cover the taxes. Our families include 5 children who have been coming to the house since they were born. It is a magical place.

Jean Sweeney purchased this house in 1990

Why Jean Sweeney chose Middletown

This property has one of the most spectacular views of the Atlantic ocean in the world. You feel like you are on a ship. The house was designed with that concept in mind.

What makes this house unique

The house is accessible to everything Newport has to offer. However if you want to run an errand out of the busyness there is a back way. You are on the ocean but the kids can walk down the street to the beach and to get a great breakfast at the Atlantic Grill.

Notes:
The house has 2 kayaks which can be launched right from the beach. The beach directly in front of the house is rocky with Maine outcroppings. However you can swim right from the beach in the backyard (most people wear swim shoes) There is a large deck facing the ocean and running the width of the house with teak furniture including: 2 Barlow Tyrie lounge chairs, 2 rocking chairs and a round dining table with 4 chairs, and a gas grill. The kitchen has a gas stove and a bar sink. The house was designed accessible for handicap use. There is a ramp to the front door instead of steps and the study has a electronic bed that lifts for easy in and out. All the basics are there when you arrive. We ask that you replace what you have used before you leave. The house is 'turn-key' and ready to be used at all times. We do not do weekend rentals. The property will not accommodate more than 3 cars.
