The Cathedral of San Martino is the magnificent Cathedral, built in 1330, with its splendid marble facade and central rose. To admire the Church of Sant'Agostino and the Rocchetta Arrichina built in 1324 and rebuilt in 1487 and connected to the port of Pisa, the only door still admirable of the walls of the ancient city. Museum of Sketches, where you can see the artistic sketches of various works of art and admire the artists working. Pietrasanta is called Little Athens for the countless works of art and because you can meet artists from all over with an intense artistic activity.

Apuan Alps

For those who want to enjoy the fresh air and stunning views, do not miss the villages of Candalla, with the old mill on the stream and the opportunity to bath in the pools of crystal and clear water.

The Cave of Colonnata

The first step towards the marble basins generally leads to Colonnata (m532), an ancient village which is said to have been founded to house the slaves who mined marble in Roman times. The Colonnata Caves are the most impressive of the Apuan basins and offer superb views of the majestic quarry on the flanks of the mountains Serrone Major and Spallone. At the top of the homonymous mountain lies the basin of Joy: This is a complex of caves that make up a single glance at the world.

The Cave Fantiscritti

The Fantiscritti Caves (M450) can be reached by following the stream from Carrione up to Vara. They make it possible, by the end of the last century, the passage of the railway used to transport the marble, now converted into a road that crosses the Gallery Vara. Fantiscritti owes its name to the discovery of a relic of Roman times, now preserved in the Carrara Accademia, consisting of small figures in bas-relief carved into a rock wall. The marble taken from this basin is the kind of white light Battaglino and the Grand Canal, one of Bettogli Statuary White and the ordinary Fantiscritti.

Beautiful countries are also Capriglia, La Culla, Santa Lucia, Capezzano Monte, where you can enjoy memorable sunsets and pleasant outdoor dining in the nearby restaurants.
