About James and Jo Ramage
James and Jo moved out of London in 2013 for a better lifestyle in this beautiful part of the world with more space for a young family to grow up in the green fields and clean air.
Why James and Jo Ramage chose Hannington
A great property with space in a location that balances the spectacular rural Cotswolds with ease of access to and from London and the South.

Fantastic Week! Would love to visit again!
What a great week have just had at Nell House. Jo, James and the girls were fantastic hosts, on hand when you needed anything but afforded us with plenty of privacy. Our children had a lovely time playing together and were so well behaved!
The cottage was fully equipped and very comfortable, even the broadband speeds were out of this world! The grounds are absolutely stunning. It is a great location to explore the wider countryside, an hour from Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, just 15 minutes from Cotswold Water Park and many, many National Trust spots only a short drive away. In addition to being very much in the countryside you are only a 20 minute drive into Swindon (which has the biggest Supermarket we have ever seen, very handy to stock up on supplies). I would certainly recommend Nell House to friends and family and would absolutely look to stay again if we ever visited that part of England again.
Thank you for a wonderful week!
A place to chill
Property information and places to visit/eat extremely good and useful, directions spot on.
Property and location idyllic and a real place to chill. Landlords welcoming and friendly.
Easy to access towns Swindon and Cirencester with outlet malls and shopping. Good location for local eating with plentiful selections in surrounding Highworth and other villages. Plenty nearby activities to suit all ages.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay.
Glad you found lots to do in the area. Do come back!
A fantastic house with a beautiful garden and even a duck pond at the terrace.
We have had a beautiful week with a lots of walk in the Cotswolds. A lovely house and very kind owners.
Clean comfortable and quiet.
After 10 days I was almost sad to leave. The cottage was a perfect size for a family of four. The location slightly off the beaten path ticked our boxes. We had a warm and friendly greeting that lasted throughout our stay. I'm sure we will return at some point in the future.
Lovely property in a great location. Excellent hosts
We loved our stay and the hosts were really friendly and keen to help in every which way the could. We would definitely recommend at stay at this cottage.
Thank you for your comments and we are glad that you enjoyed your extended stay with us whilst working in the area.
Really warm welcome from Jo and her young daughters. Beautiful surroundings and very comfortable, well equipped accommodation. Gas barbecue and god quality furniture on the large deck, which overlooks a pleasant water garden. A real country retreat in well cared for gardens, but so much to do when you explore the surrounding area. We would highly recommend Nell Cottage for a peaceful, but well located getaway.
Glad you enjoyed the cottage as a great base for exploring the Cotswolds.
The Cottage at Nell House is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds close to both Cirencester (the 'Capital of the Cotswolds') and the Cotswold Water Park.
Although situated in a picturesque quiet rural village, there are plenty of attractions only a short drive away.
The beautiful market town of Cirencester has lovely shops, restaurants, pubs and markets. There is also the Corinium Museum.
Fairford Royal International Air Tattoo is in July annually. It is a huge event and we are only a short drive or cycle away. As we are so close, you also get to see many of the planes without having to leave the garden!
Swindon Designer Outlet has a huge selection of designer shops and reduced prices. As it is inside it also makes an excellent rainy day excursion!
STEAM is situated next to the Designer Outlet and is a lovely museum detailing the history of the Great Western trains.
Westonbirt Arboretum has thousands of trees and some wonderful walks.
Lechlade-on-Thames has the unusual Christmas Shop, open most of the year, and the beautiful River Thames.
Stow-on-the-Wold is full of quaint tea shops and old pubs. There are lovely, individual shops there.
Birdland Park and Gardens is a good family trip. It is located in the picturesque town of Bourton-on-the-Water which is also home to a model village.
Cotswold Wildlife Park, near Burford, is a great day out. There is a brilliant giraffe house where you stand level with the animals' heads and can watch them eating.
The beautiful city of Bath with its wonderful architecture, Roman Baths, and fascinating shops is definitely worth a trip.
Chedworth Roman Villa has some beautifully preserved mosaics and is set in lovely countryside.
Burford town has some lovely old pubs, a beautiful river and shops.
Fairford is small but well worth a visit. It has a fantastic 15th Centuary church which is the only parish church in the country to have a complete set of late medieval glass.
The Living Rainforest is a lovely half-day trip. The variety of plants and birds is amazing and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Oxford is a busy, vibrant university town. Apart from the large selection of shops and restaurants there is the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Library, Oxford Castle (ruins), the Radcliffe Camera, the Oxford University Press Museum, University of Oxford Botanic Garden, the various colleges and churches, University Museum of Natural History, and the Bridge of Sighs, to name but a few!
Bristol is about 1 hour away. It has a large, out of town shopping centre, Cribbs Causeway, as well as 'in town' shops like Cabot Circus. Bristol Zoo is another favourite trip out and houses some gorillas. @tBristol is a fantastic hands on science museum.
Cheltenham is home to horse racing, as well as being a beautiful regency town.
Golf courses are plentiful in the area. The nearest is Wragbarn, but slightly further afield are Bowood, Frilford Heath, and the Oxford Golf Club. There is an unusual golf course in Minchinhampton, where you have to play while avoiding the cattle who have the run of the course.
