Comfortable, great location
A little smaller than I imagined from the photos but very well equipped and comfortable. Right in the middle of town and steps from the beach. All sleeping requires stairs.
This home in Arromanches is beautiful. It is right on Gold Beach and it was absolutely wonderful to open the windows in the top floor bedroom and hear the surf and feel the cool breeze. We had no trouble finding the home but we did have some difficulty accessing the apartment. With some help from a shopkeeper and Google translate (the owner does not speak English and our French is minimal), we were finally able to get in. The property manager arrived shortly after we accessed the apartment to make sure everything was OK. The kitchen is well equipped but you will need to acquire pantry items. Be prepared to pick up toilet paper (there was one roll in each of the two bathrooms) and hand soap. A small grocery store is very close by and stocks everything you could need. There are many restaurants and shops as well. Parking is free across the street. The home is within easy access of D-Day beaches, museums, and Bayeux. Mont St-Michel is about an hour and forty-five minute drive away, and well worth it. The home is lovely, comfortable, and conveniently located.
Wonderful house and location
The house is perfectly located and well decorated. It was fun staying there and we had everything we needed. Elizabeth welcomed us to the property and gave us keys, she was great.
The bakery Clair de la Lune is one of the best I’ve been to and the brasserie 6juin next to it is a reasonably priced restaurant with very good food. Ile Flottante for dessert was amazing.
We highly recommend.
What a pleasant place to stay
What a pleasant place this house is, both in terms of locations as well as its interior. We stayed in Arromanches for a week in July with our family (2 parents, 3 boys ages 12, 12 and 16). The house is spacious and decorated with care. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need to cook. We even had a BBQ at the terrace. It is so nicely located, you can walk right out the door to the beach or to the bakery and restaurants. From the room at the top floor you can see and hear the sea, so relaxing.
The weather was excellent during our stay and we walked to the beach each day. We used the sea kayak from the house, which is very much fun in the waves. We visited a number of nearby museums and monuments. If you're interested in the concrete bunkers the Germans build during WWII, then I would certainly recommend the complex at La Batterie d' Azeville, which is a 50 minute drive.
Thanks a lot for welcoming us at this nice place, Nathalie and Elizabeth.
Good Location and Very Comfortable Home
We wanted to stay in Arromanches, and we're so glad that we did. And this was a wonderful home to be in while we were there. We are two couples traveling together and exploring Normandy.
Nathalie met us when we arrived and was very welcoming. She showed us the home and answered our questions.
The kitchen has everything you might need, and the appliances seemed to be brand new. We loved sitting outside on the deck in the evening. The beds are very comfortable. And the home is very nicely decorated. The third floor master bedroom is lovely and has wonderful views.
The only thing that surprised us was the toilet/bathroom placement. When we read in the listing that each bedroom has it's own private bathroom, we thought that this would include a toilet. The master bedroom on the third floor has a very nice shower and sink area but does not have a toilet. The same is true for the two bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Each bedroom has a shower or tub and a sink, but no toilet. There is a WC on the second floor and one on the ground floor off of the kitchen. This setup might be uncomfortable for some people depending on your travel companions. Plus people staying on the third floor need to come down the stairs in the night to use the WC on the second level. This was not what we imagined after reading the listing. Our group made this work for us but it might not be for everyone.
We recommend this house and would certainly consider staying there if we were back in the area.
Being back in rainy Sweden we want to thank you again for letting us visit your lovely Les Enfants de Neptune with our friends (we were all together four adults).
We have enjoyed every minute of our week there, much because of the nice apartment and breathtaking surroundings. A lovely place to wake up and face the sea!
We especially appreciated the well equipped kitchen, the three bathrooms, the home-movie (before going out "in the field" we started our week by watching "The longest day") and the central heating.
Our warmest thanks and recommendations!
