Oceanside 4 BR 4 Bath Home with Hot Tub & Pool - Beach Access 2 min walk
About Elaine Turley
Elaine and Bill began visiting Hatteras Island and fell in love with the beaches here in 2005. Elaine loves Outer Banks scuba diving and enjoys the 40 minute drive along Route 12 surrounded by ocean and sound views to go South and dive the wrecks in the Gulf Stream or North to visit the unique wrecks in the Labrador Current. Bill prefers golf up North and the location of this home serves both passions. Family and friends stay active daily kayaking or paddleboarding across the road and we always include a parasailing excursion, available South on Hatteras Island or North on the upper island. Elaine does yoga and meditation on the upper deck and Bill does his daily run around the neighborhood. Whatever the activity, all enjoy cooling off in the private pool with solar heating or soothing our muscles in the Jacuzzi hot tub. Elaine and Bill hope their guests share their concern for maintaining and preserving the incredible beauty of the Outer Banks' natural environment and elsewhere. We ask that you help us protect our environment by limiting waste and garbage and conserving our natural resources. We have included a number of insulated beverage containers and a water filter at the home in the hope that guests will minimize the purchase and use of plastic containers.

Why Elaine Turley chose Salvo
We started visiting Outer Banks in 2005 with our extended family, some of whom lived in North Carolina. When some of our family members were no longer able to visit with us in Outer Banks we decided we were here to stay and bought A Shore Thing with the hopes of spending lots of time here when we retire in the next decade. And for now, we visit as much as possible.
What makes this House unique
Lots of space with a number of decks off to the side so everyone can find their space. We love the ocean and the views from the upper deck. It is our family tradition to meet on the top deck for breakfast in the morning and at night for ice cream under the amazing clear starry sky with the sound of the ocean waves surrounding us.

for those days when you want to prepare a meal /or baked in rainy days kitchen has it all :) . beach access was very closed an the view from 3rd floor is just awesome, and when the wave was just to rough for the little ones, the pool was very clean and nice to have on 'off' beach days ( special thanks from our daughter peanut who in her own words 'papa can we buy this beach house ' //lol in short family are already ready to book this place for our next summer vacation. definitely recommend this place . Don't look any further and book this place. Thank you Ms. Turley for sharing your wonderful beach house.
The 'M' family
We're so happy your family enjoyed each other and A Shore Thing for your Outer Banks vacation! If we've made this a comfortable and fun place for our guest families to enjoy each other and create beautiful memories, we've accomplished our goal. Thanks for being great guests!
The Perfect Beach House
This house is awesome! It has absolutely everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable and all of the rooms are nicely decorated, and very clean. The beach access is just a two minute walk away, and the walk over the sand dune to get onto the beach is easy. The sand gets insanely hot most days, so you would be wise to wear shoes (not flip flops or crocs) to the beach. The deck on the third floor is incredible. Elaine was super easy to communicate with.
Best place in the outer Banks hands down
The house is beautiful, and it is huge. We easily fit 8 people in the house and didn't feel crowded at all. The top floor is just about the best place on Earth, any time of day. The house was fully stocked with anything and everything you could need or want for your vacation ( minutes sheets and towels, which I'm fine with). The pictures don't do the place justice! It's in a nice secluded neighborhood. Quiet and peaceful, but not too far from shops and restaurants. The pool is huge and it was spotless when we arrived. ( Note to future people, don't turn the light on in the pool when you're swimming. It attracts bugs). Again, the pictures don't do it justice! The beach is only a short walk away, and everything you could need is provided ( bring your own fishing gear). Elaine was super nice, and responded to every question and concern we had before the trip expeditiously. We had zero issues with our stay at a shore thing. A memorable stress free trip! I highly recommend a shore thing to anyone looking for a place to stay in the outer Banks!!
Family with friends vaca
The house itself was perfect for the size of our party. It is roomy with ample kitchen/bath space. The living room is cozy and open to the kitchen so that no one needs to feel excluded. The teens enjoyed the third floor game room equipped with air hockey table, television and their privacy needs. The adults enjoyed coffee on that same 3rd floor balcony each morning looking out over the beautiful view of the beautiful Carolina colored houses and the view of the ocean and sound horizons.
Mrs. Turley was readily available by text or by phone for the one incident that occurred in getting into the beach house, a situation which was resolved immediately. She is a concerned and considerate owner.
I very much recommend leasing this property for your vacation party of 8 people.
We made good use of the pool and the jacuzzi both of which were found to be clean and private.
To me everything about the house and neighborhood was designed to make a perfect relaxing vacation.
Dear Ms. Buckely, I am so pleased you and your family enjoyed your time together at A Shore Thing!! Thank you for the wonderful review and for being our guest. It was our pleasure to work with you. Elaine Turley
We had an amazing time at A Shore Thing and being in North Carolina!! Due to the size of our family we can only take a beach vacation every 2 or 3 years. We also go with another large family so finding something that works for 12 people and affordable is tough. Not only was A Shore Thing perfect for us but we had an awesome time and our beach trip was amazing!! Elaine is amazing and anytime we needed anything she was quick to respond. Hopefully in 2-3 years we will be back!!
Loved this house! I am being honest when I say this was the cleanest house I've ever stayed in. The kitchen was well stocked. The owner provided dish and laundry detergent and toilet paper which was very nice on arrival as we typically shop the day after we arrive. Mrs. Turley was very responsive to all our questions prior to our stay and made some excellent recommendations. Almost wish she was there to meet her. This was my two stepsons first trip to the beach and the ocean and they loved every minute if it. The pool was a nice plus for our trip for the windy days and we, the parents, enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and sitting on the top deck in the evenings. This is a perfect place for a family vacation. We will stay again.
Angela, Thank you for your great review. I chuckled when you said you wished I could be there because I often I enjoy our guests so much I wish I could be there to meet and greet YOU! I am so happy your sons enjoyed the beach! Outer Banks, of course, has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I will forward your review to Hatteras Helping Hands and Point Break Pools and Spas to thank them for the service. Since we're not there we rely on guests like you to tell us that our maintenance team is doing a great job. Thanks for staying with us!!
Scuba diving, deep sea fishing, bird-watching tour boats, museums, gardens, aquarium, golf, outlet shopping and other activities are nearby but not as close as 15 minutes away as in above category.
Tri-villages Yoga is conveniently adjacent to Island Acupuncture and Massage - follow your morning yoga class with a massage for heavenly start to the day.
We love Waterman's Grill in Rodanthe and Oceanus and Ketch 55 in Avon for nearby dining. We're not the best source for restaurants since we moslty love BBQ'ng at home!
Check out Graveyard of the Atlantic museum next to the ferry to Ocracoke. If you're heading to or from Hatteras - try Kat's Deli for great sandwiches and friendly service. Kat's is a great place to stop on the way back from scuba diving with Capt JT of UnderPressure or Capt Dave of the Lion's Paw. Hatteras IS the Graveyard of the Atlantic, afterall.
Going North? Nags Head shopping outlets, Manteo downtown and shopping area, the Roanoke Island Festival Park and Museum, Elizabethan Gardens and North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. And...yes... we have gone to The Lost Colony, an outdoor play about ... well.... the lost colony of Roanoke!
Hatteras Island is a beautiful, serene and quiet place to enjoy peace, beachlife, wildlife and watersports.... close to fun activities for all!
