About Jay Bazzinotti

I've been renting this place since about 1998 - it's quiet, fun, relaxing with much to do nearby. I was a high tech manager for many years and currently am a top writer for Quora.com, a social media blog owned by Wikipedia.

Jay Bazzinotti purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Jay Bazzinotti chose Brownfield

This cabin was built in 1970 but never really occupied until I purchased it and refurbished it. I bought it because it was near my own house. It is quiet with woods behind and quiet residents. It's called The Schwende Hut after a hot dog stand on the top of Mt Tecumseh where I used to ski with my sister.

What makes this cabin unique

Includes everything except food, such as linens, towels, plates, screen tent, grille, canoe, kayak, paddles, life jackets, outdoor shower as well as indoor shower, radio, dvd/vcr, electric heat, indoor/outdoor showers, fire pit, picnic table and more

It's near the Stony Mountain Arts Center, which is a club on a mountain with various popular musical groups and events. Also close to Cornish, an antiques center.

Rustic is the word!

  • 3 of 5

When the property owner said rustic he was correct! The pictures are deceiving! The cottage is not directly on the pond and there is no gas stove inside. Lots of road noise and gun fire from a neighbor. We appreciated the property manager and all of his help!

Great place!! Off the grid with all the fixings.

  • 5 of 5

Owner and Property manager were incredible. Beach is just a short walk away. The gas grill needs replacing. Barry was on hand for any questions or issues and was great!! Kitchen was impressively stocked for a cottage. We lost electricity once due to storm, and cottage looses water as well. Found out thats just a Maine thing. Went to movies and all was well when we returned. Barry had gone out during the storm to get batteries for a lantern for us!! :) Cell phones not on a Verizon plan will not work here. Wifi, cable, internet are not accessible. There is a nice glass 4 burner stove top. There is a toaster oven. There is no conventional oven. Not a complaint at all. Just a reminder. If you dont need those and are looking for a camp, retreat, cottage this is a gem. Much bigger on inside than we expected. The neighbors are friendly and kind. We spent alot of time in North Conway as well. Nearby Maine apple picking was so much fun!! There is a paper that the owner wrote that turned into being a very useful guide to the area. About 100 movies on dvd and vhs were there, great titles and some classics. Lots of books. Plenty of towels. All linens. Looking forward to returning. Husband took longer showers than hot water offered. Not a fan of this sites new try to charge both renter and rentee. If you can seek out owner on other sites I would recommend trying to contact them there.

Quiet cabin, private beach access

  • 4 of 5

My husband, dog, and I spent a week at the Schwende hut and really enjoyed our time there. The cabin was the perfect size for us and was very comfortable. The lake access is a very short walk, and was very clean. North Conway is about a 20 min drive, and Cornish is about 10-15 min away, and had some very cute shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved It!!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time...Cabin has "everything"...including firewood for our nightly campfires! Our Son/Fam stopped by and had enough room with a full bed on bottom of bunk bed...Gas grill was a bonus..Short walk to private beach was enjoyable with friendly neighbors..Enjoyed our stay!

Its got all i need

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is set on a lovely clean quiet pond. The swimming is perfect no fast motors. Great for kids. The owner is a charming pleasant man and his concierge is a man living next door who will help with amything you need. They left a bottle of wine and a bag of cherries with a welcoming note. Couldnt ask for a better stay.

Map

Car: necessary

So much to do year round! Close to skiing, shopping, snowmobiling, x-country, fishing, swimming, canoeing, hunting, sleeping, hiking, more. In the summer, there's swimming, canoeing on the lake, or just 4 miles to Brownfield Canoe Rentals on the Saco. Burnt Meadow Mountain and other AMC hikes within 4 miles; Antique center in Cornish 10 miles away; Mt Douglas is a high mountain but with parking close to the top so it's an easy climb even for young kids, but with a great view.

In the fall there's hiking and foliage trips, only 1 hour from Mt Washington and hiking or the cog railway, 45 min to the Alpine Slide at Attitash or Story Land; Lots of outlet shopping in North Conway 20 minutes away; hunting is allowed nearby throughout the fall with no parking issues - just walk from the cottage into the woods.

Other Activities: x-country, snowmobiling
