Located just 400 feet from Nantucket Sound's Lewis Bay. Sip your coffee on the brick & cobblestone lined terrace of these lovely West Yarmouth homes. Listen to the distant sounds of the ferries harboring in and out of port. Englewood Beach (has boat ramp) and several smaller town way beaches are literally right around the corner from these tastefully decorated cottages. If it's a larger beach you prefer, World Class Seagull beach less than 2 miles away and you never have to get on Route 28 to get there.
The front Cottage has 2 bedrooms & 1 bath. When you walk into the home you are greeted by a cathedral ceiling living room, with skylights. It is stylishly decorated with many nautical trinkets. The kitchen opens up to the living room so the cook can be talking to the guests. This cottage has a full kitchen with dishwasher, Washer/dryer closet and a side-by-side refrigerator. Wide pegged oak floors stretch from the front to the back of the house. We do have Internet & cable in the front cottage, not in the back.
The two bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and wall-to-wall carpeting. The master bedroom boasts a comfortable queen-size bed, 6 drawer bureau, mirror and closet. The second bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed and a trundle under. This room has a 5 drawer bureau and a closet. The backyard has a brick patio, outdoor shower, lawn furniture, and a gas grill. It is completely fenced-in for privacy. The front cottage can sleep 6 comfortably, 8 if you use the pull out couch in the living room.
The second cottage sits in back of the first cottage and has its own front & back yard. A ramp is provided for handicap use and inside the open floor provides easy access to living. A daybed, couch and coffee table are adjacent to the kitchen. The bathroom is off of the kitchen. The bedroom has one queen, one twin, and a trundle under. The back cottage can sleep 5 comfortably.
Fences and walls of ivory separate the two cottages for privacy but by opening some fence gates it becomes a great family compound.
We love pets but have found that some pets and/or pet owners are not a good fit for our cottages. We do allow them but have strict guidelines that must be followed if you decide to bring a pet to our cottages.
• When you are not present in the house your pet must be either:
A) Outside within the confines of the fence (Make sure pet cannot jump fence)
B) Inside in a crate (we have one for up to a 60lbs. dog)
• Pets cannot make excessive noise (i.e. barking, howling, etc.)
• Pets cannot cause any damage inside the cottages or on property grounds
• All pets must be picked up after on property grounds.
• Pets must non aggressive and well mannered
If these rules are not followed you will have forfeited your security deposit and may be asked to leave the property immediately.
The cottages were great, close to the beach and great for family with kids. We enjoyed the backyard with our dog Sam and family friends. Easy access to shopping, grocery stores and restaurants too! The beach was relaxing and on the calmer side since it's located on Lewis Bay! It was s great 2 week vacation, I would come back again.
My family and I took a two week vacation in this wonderful cottage. I found it very comfortable and the location was beautiful. They were very small but cozy places and I loved the fact that you could choose to have 2 cottages for more space. It was very nice to be right by two lovely beaches. I overall had a wonderful stay and will definitely want to come back for next summer.
I was disappointed for the money we paid. It was a nice location but the cottage and yard was dirty and run down. There seemed to be an excessive amount of pet hair, like on the bedding and lamp shades and other surfaces; even though I know we booked a pet-friendly rental. I scrubbed down the kitchen, washed bedding, vacuumed, etc before we moved in. When we complained, Scott arranged for a carpet cleaner to come in. I felt this should have been done before we got there. We then had to deal with wet, doggy-smelling carpets. The yard was very scruffy, smelled of pet urine, and there were stray nails--my son got one in his bare foot. So we had to keep making adjustments for things that were not our problem. On a positive note, the dishes were very clean and the kitchen well set-up.
We spent a week there with family. We had 7 adults and two children Having both cottages was perfect. It gave everyone enough space to spread out a bit.
The Front Cottage
We used this space more than the back cottage. It has 2 bedrooms (1 with an air conditioner!) and a pull out couch. The kitchen table extends to (probably) double in size. There was plenty of silverware, plates, cups, mugs, etc. There is a dishwasher and a great coffee maker. This house also has a washer and dryer.
Oh, important note: take a look at the bedroom closet, you'll find tons of games. We spent our evenings playing a lot of their games.
The Back Cottage
The back cottage also comes with a fully supplied kitchen, though no dishwasher. It is smaller with only one bedroom with a queen sized bed and a twin sized bed with a trundle. The living room has a day bed and a pull out couch. We had the couch pulled out the entire week, while it could get crowded we still had room to move around and sit at the table.
The Outdoor Space
There is a nice sunny yard behind the front cottage with plenty of chairs, a couple of tables, and a nice grill. There is also a great outdoor shower. Be careful of muddy feet/flip flops afterwards the shower water can drain into the grass near one of the tables.
The space behind the second cottage is completely in the shade. It has a table with a fire pit in the middle, perfect for cool evenings and s'mores. There is a small swing hanging off one of the trees. It's a very quaint area.
There is room in the driveway for 2 or 3 cars - plenty of space to unpack/repack your cars.
This place is walking distance from 2 beaches. If you walk down the road and take a left there is a beach with a swing set and some pull up bars. That one was pretty rocky and not great for swimming. If you walk down the road and take a right, there is a small public beach about a block or so down. It isn't too rocky and the water is warm. We spent almost every day there. If that beach is crowded, or if you prefer more space, a bigger one is a 10 minute drive or 15 bike ride away.
The neighborhood is exactly what you think of when you think of The Cape. It's quiet and safe. Lot of people were riding their bikes, walking their dogs, or jogging.
It was a wonderful week and I do hope to be back again next year.
The location of the home was great. If you stood in the road you could see the bay and the beach with the ocean was only a few miles away. The owner was very prompt in responding to my questions. We were greeting warmly upon our arrival and given a tour. The house was nice, well furnished and comfortable, but in need of cleaning. It had not been vacuumed (sand and pet hair visible all over the floors), the shower had a ring around it, and the bath mat smelled. It was a relaxing week and we left it cleaner than we found it.
The house was great. The location was perfect for shopping/beaching/going out to eat .. that is when we were not using the grill to cook at home or letting the kids play in the enclosed back yard. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone wanting a quiet home to vacation and relax in.
