I just wanted to thank John and Scott for the great weekend we had at thier place. The house really has it all! We rented oner the winter and had a great time. It is right down the road from camelback so you can pretty much get ready for the slopes at the house. When we got back from the mountain we made a fire out back looking over the lake. That night we watched college hoops on a Huge Flatscreen TV that in not even mentioned in the description of the house... it was a real pleasant surprise! The downstairs has a load of games that keep everyone occupied, some classics like Ms. Pacman and they also have some new stuff like the Megatouch screens that are at most bars. The lake was frozen over so there was people pushing thier kids around on sleds and ice fishing which was pretty cool to watch. John and Scott were also great to work with, they even found us a great resturaunt to go to later that night. I have rented a lot of places in the poconos and this place really has it all! I look forward to renting again!
OVERALL - I thought this place was great! The location was good, plenty of parking, mostly everything functioned, and the descriptions/pictures were pretty accurately represented. We had to put in an hour or so of work/elbow grease to get the house in shape. The outside tables were disgusting/covered in pollen. They cleaned up well, though. Also, there is a rule that if the trash bags don't fit into the bins, then you have to take it with you. I call BS because there was trash already in our bins, either from a neighbor or a past tenant. We would rent this place again!
BEDROOMS - The beds were comfortable enough. All had sheets / pillows / a blanket. Each bedroom had a window unit for those hot summer nights. Only negative would be that the ladders for the top bunk were not all attached to the frame, which is somewhat dangerous.
KITCHEN - The kitchen had the basics, but thats it. There were a few glasses, but not many. Plenty of plates and utensils, as well as pots / pans / cooking sheets. No casserole dishes though. Also, don't expect anything in the way of salt / pepper / olive oil. The grill on the upper deck (just off the kitchen) is HUGE and worked great!
GAME ROOM - This is where we spent most of our time. The room was very musty when we first arrived, but we kept the door shut and got the dehumidifier cranked up to high. The mustiness cleared out by the end of the first night. We noticed that all lower electrical outlets do not work. This includes the outlet for the air hockey table and some of the arcade games. After some troubleshooting, we got the games / jukebox powered up using the outlets that were about 8' high. One game did not power on (Street Fighter: Champions Edition or something). We had to call a buddy who was about to leave to bring an extension cord for the air hockey table, which did the trick. The picture of the games does not reflect what is there. 1. Multi-Arcade with about 50 games 2. Magic Sword (2 players) 3. Megatouch 4. Golden Tee '98 5. Street Fighter (2 player, did not work)
OUTSIDE - There was a really nice firepit, but we did not use it. BYO firewood. The small dock on the lake had a place to launch paddleboats/row boat/canoe. We used a paddleboat and the canoe. The paddleboat began taking on water, so that didn't last long. The canoe worked great.
LOCATION: The house is less than 10 minutes from rt 80, grocery store & restaurants. It is also within 15 min from Mt. Airy Casino.
We rented this home for a guys get-away weekend. The house was clean when we arrived with everything ready to go. The game room was fantastic and by far everyone's favorite hang out inside. Living area was also a nice place to hang out since the kitchen, dinning area, and living room were all open. Outside was awesome as well. We spent a lot of time by the fire pit by the lake. Very peaceful!!!
Will stay again in a heartbeat, just need another reason to get-away!
The House has a lot of spiders, broken door, steers and beds. the outside furniture are dirty or broken. the lake bench are old and crooked or broken.
the game room has game all machine out of orders. the outdoor playground broken and danger for kids be next to it. The house stink with mold.
We really had an excellent Sumer Weekend. First of all I would like to Thank John and Scott, very friendly people to deal with. Always reachable, always made me comfortable with all his possible help and guidance. About the house I would like to highlight few things:-
More spacious than it looks or described
-The Game room is one of the main attractions: All the game tables and instruments were in perfect working condition and have got plenty of space to accommodate 20 or more people together in this room.
-The lake is just at the backyard, we enjoyed boating (there were 2 paddle boats and 1 Canoe ), sitting (there are garden chairs and table beside the lake with a private area), fishing and bonfire near the lake .
-Eat in Kitchen is also spacious and clean with lots of cooking utensils, the refrigerator was large, electric range was in good condition, the wooden dinner table was large can accommodate 12 or more people together.
-The Deck beside the kitchen in the second floor was large with garden chairs and table and gas Grill, we enjoyed the barbeque party. However the grill was not so clean and the table and chairs have some dust on them due to they are outside the house, which is quite normal, we cleaned it before use and after use also we cleaned the grill and table.
- The ground floor have a specious sitting area with a working eclectic fireplace we enjoyed there with some music session.
- 4 Bed rooms (2 in the first floor, 2 in the second floor) are furnished with bedroom sets and equipped with window a/c and 2 of the bed rooms had small TV. Bedrooms had plenty of place to sleep including bunk beds, double beds and some beds had sliding bed which comes out from the bottom of the main bed and you can push it in after use to get space in the floor. However bed rooms are considerably smaller in size, but who spends much time in bed room except sleeping at night ?.
- 2 Bath rooms 1 in the 1st floor and 1 in the second floor, one of them have shower and washer drier; one has bath tub, the bath rooms were clean and comparatively small but enough in size.
- The home appliances were in good working conditions but the make/brand were cheaper, would have been little better but again doesn’t matter.
- The internet connection was pretty good and fast, I got more than 12 mbps download speed.
- There were not too many tv channels but had a 5 Disk dvd player (not blue ray), we watched movies with dvd s we brought with us.
We wish we could stay longer..
We rented this house for a Christmas get away with family and we had a blast! The house is accurately described and well maintained. The game room was a hit with kids and adults. There is also an arcade size air hockey table in the game room that is not in the pictures. There was plenty of sleeping room; all of the sofas fold out to beds. The house is very close to skiing, tubing, the outlets and the casino. John and Scott were great to deal with and I had my deposit back less than a week after the trip.
This area is great in all four seasons.
Summer: Besides having a Lake in your backyard, which has great fishing, canoeing, as well as a beach, the
area offers quite a lot. Also you have Camelbeach, right nearby.
Winter: This area has great skiing all around. 10 minutes to Camelback Mountain. Close to Jackfrost/ Big
Boulder, Alpine Mountain, and Montage. If skiing is not your thing, you are about 7 minutes away from 'The
Crossings' which is outlet shopping.
Spring: Rte 611 is your direct access to many things, like great restaurants, horseback riding, antiquing, and so
Fall: Apple and pumpkin picking, are not too far from this house either.
Other Activities: CamelBack/CamelBeach Mountain, outlet shopping, great restaurants
