About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Aloha! You have found 'Hale Sweet Hale' an OCEANFRONT Hawaiian-style bungalow nestled on the Southeast coast of the 'Big Island' of Hawaii. This full one bedroom condo has been completely remodeled. The entry level bedroom has a king bed with adjoining bath. The living room, dining area and kitchen are on the upper level with a comfortable Queen sofa sleeper in the living room. Greet the sunrise with your coffee on the lanai and view whales lazily basking in the warm waters. Spend your days exploring the volcano, South Point, nearby villages and ancient heaus or just relax by the pool or in the hot tub. In the evening you can meet your neighbors while you grill your dinner by the pool.

Colony One at Sea Mountain offers all the conveniences and luxury of modern resort living in a timeless rural Hawaiian setting. Ideally situated a five minute walk to legendary Black Sand Beach at Punaluu and charming Hokuloa Church. Drive just a half hour to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where you can experience the thrill of watching lava flow to the sea and then return home to enjoy the relaxing, tropical setting. This is a very dramatic area that stirs the imagination and allows glimpses into what ancient Hawaii must have been like.

Local style restaurants are just a few minutes away in Naalehu. The town of Volcano, a 35 minute drive and just outside the park entrance on Old Volcano Road, boasts two highly acclaimed restaurants: Kileaua Lodge (reservations a must) and Thai Thai as well as Kiawe Cafe and Lava Rock Cafe.

VOLCANO UPDATE!!! The park is open 24 hours a day and it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to visit the Jaggar Museum observation area and see the red hot glow of lava in the Halemaumau crater. Amazing and awe inspiring. The lava has been rising in the crater since early Oct. 2012 and rangers are on hand until 9:00 PM.

About Julie O. Enriques

We live in northern California and have relatives on the Big Island. We purchased a home at Kealakekua Bay (VRBO Listing #100245) for our family's use and as a vacation rental in 1999. We enjoy many recreational sports including backpacking, skiing, hiking, golfing, hunting and fishing and of course snorkeling and kayaking in Hawaii.

Why Julie O. Enriques chose Ka'u District

We have enjoyed success with our Kona vacation rental and formed many warm relationships with our repeat guests. We found ourselves visiting the south island on every trip to Hawaii and were so impressed with the condos at Colony One and the beautiful grounds that we couldn't resist purchasing another vacation in Hawaii.

What makes this condo unique

We enjoy the community at Colony One, meeting people around the bar-b-ques at night or at the pool and the beautiful golf course. There is a rich cultural heritage in the area that is so much more natural and less developed than any place we in the islands. The proximity to the volcano, the charming town of Volcano with it's great restaurants and not to miss Sunday Farmer's Market and then nearby Na'alehu ensure that there's always something fun to do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks so much for letting us stay in your charming, peaceful, and restful home. It was a wonderful base for exploring the volcano, turtles and just for relaxing. The whales didn’t get our message that we wanted to see them-better luck next time! We had a wonderful visit. Mahalo

Great Views

The view of the ocean was wonderful and I enjoyed the morning on the deck. It had all the necessary kitchen items. Washer and dryer were nice. This property was located well for us. We started the day snorkeling at the state park, turtles were amazing. Then to the National Park. Couple of things to note. We had 4 adults and the sofa bed was is very sad shape. The legs have been taken off so the bed goes not sleep level. The town is close and the grocery store has a good selection, But hard to find after dark.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your review, and a special thanks for your "heads up" on the sofa bed. You have my apology and I am so sorry for your experience. We were there with family members last year and the sofa was fine then. I was unaware that the legs had been removed and fortunately I will be on island soon and repair or replace the sofa bed. We are pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful mornings on the lanai and the proximity to the Black Sand Beach and the volcano. Melouise Pfeffer/owner
