Paradise in Pine Ridge
Was simply an amazing stay in the bush....everything provided was excellent and we didn’t want for anything.
Sleeping arrangements for 5 was very comfortable and cozy. Gardens and property was very beautiful and was a joy to spend 4 days there.
Pool was a great cooling off after long days hiking and everything was extremely clean and neat and Jamie was exceptionally accommodating with everything.
The fire in the evening was a lovely touch and much appreciated.
Love the amount of the hooks available to hang stuff and even saw a little fox wandering by whilst enjoying the fire and pine ridge evenings.
Would return tomorrow if we could!

We had a great stay, and a great adventure.
House was perfectly furnished. We had a great stay. Loved picking fresh peppers and greens out of the garden. It was so awesome being able to hike to big rock falls for a swim. The drive up the ridge was brutal but an adventure. San Ignacio was exactly what we hoped it would be and the Saturday morning market was great! We found many great meals while there. If we had a longer stay I’m sure we would of loved the other falls and swimming spots.
Our family had an EPIC stay at Mahalo House and in the Mountain Pine Ridge area. The unit was impeccably clean and had everything we needed/wanted and we loved being off the grid...wifi and cell service was pretty unavailable which we loved having the down time with our teenagers off line! There were two freak scenarios that Catherine and Isiah handled immediately and with 100% effort and follow through (who could predict lightening strike on generator or rain bugs!). We absolutely hope to return again and would choose this particular rental for sure.
The recommendations by Careem (caretaker) and Catherine/Isiah were spot on for us. Absolutely take tours with Darrel - he's amazing and by end of day was thought of as a friend by all of us. Careem will be remembered and talked about by our family for years to come. Quite literally, every person we met in this travel we found warm, quick to engage, left us with smiles on our faces.
Though the bugs were not the terrifying experience we imagined - the small ones at night leave a big punch so DEET is a must if you want to be outside. We traveled with rain our first day so the drive in and out of the mountain ridge each day was harsh and took over an hour to travel 21 miles...didn't stop us from doing it, but be sure to plan accordingly for that. Having a Saturday to explore the San Ignacio market was a highlight in our travels - make sure to plan for that. Skip the restaurants and eat locally with the street vendors. We fed our family of five drinks/food and leftovers for under $15 almost each meal. Again, all of this thanks to Catherine's suggestions.
We are located in Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. All roads in the reserve are unpaved. We are 1 mile from Big Rock Waterfall. We 2 miles from Blancaneaux Lodge and less than 1 mile from Gaia Riverlodge. It takes approx 1 hour to reach our property from San Ignacio.
