FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT SOLARE APARTMENT
Freshly remodeled, sunny apartment in the historic center provides walkability to the sites. The top floor position yields lots of light, characteristic views of Florentine streets and free wifi.
Apartment is on the 4th floor (5th Floor North American designation). No elevator, 66 steps.
Located near Piazza San Lorenzo it's an easy walk to the Duomo, the train station, the Church of San Lorenzo and Medici Chapels. The Mercato Centrale nearby offers vast varieties of Italian food specialities, cheeses, hand made pasta, artisan olive oils and fresh fruits and vegetables.
The neighborhood has many convenient shops, there is a small supermarket within 2 blocks, a mom-and-pop grocer, a pizzeria, several restaurants, a pharmacy and a bakery within one block.
The building is small with only two apartments per floor. The Solare apartment has an enviable top-floor position, commanding all three windows across the top floor of the building.
The building dates back to the 15th century so stairwell shows some wear, with old stone steps that have been used for centuries. It's not an impressive entrance, but once you are inside the building, it feels local and homey, with personal touches in front of most of the apartments. This was and still is, a working class neighborhood.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor Italian/4th floor North America designation. There are 66 steps and no elevator. The greeter will help you carry your luggage upstairs on arrival.
As you reach the top floor a skylight over the stairwell admits light. On each floor the residents have put personal, neighborly touches on their front door or a little flower pot next to their door, so it feels homey and welcoming compared to a large, bustling impersonal apartment building.
A special feature that delights are the nice views from the windows in the living room and bedroom. Gaze out at timeless views of the distant hills that surround Florence. It's a bright, pleasant apartment.
The living room, bedroom and hallway have parquet wood floors, easy on the feet. The living room is cozy, with wood bookshelves, flat screen TV, IPod dock, multistandard DVD player with a small selection of English language DVDs. A comfy sofa and two arm chairs provide comfortable seating for four people. There is a pull-down double size Murphy bed in the living room. During the day it folds up flat behind the sofa. Since it is double size it's best suited for one adult or two young children. The living room door can be closed off, if you use the pull-down bed, a feature we appreciate so that guests in the bedroom can get up and move about the apartment without waking up other members of their travel party sleeping in the living room.
The bedroom has a queen size bed with a comfortable, good quality mattress. A large, handsome armoire provides good clothing storage space. Here too you can enjoy views across rooftops towards the hills. Night stands with small reading lamps are on either side of the bed.
The bathroom has a fully enclosed shower with adjustable sprayer and also a fixed rain style shower head. The shower stall is standard Italian size, but a bit small by U.S. standards. Plenty of natural light too from the window as well as good lighting over the medicine cabinet mirror.
The newly remodeled kitchen is delightful. It has a window facing the light well with a flower box, a nice touch. Full size refrigerator with separate freezer compartment, all amenities and thoughtfully appointed with pots, pans, utensils. The dining table is positioned in front of the kitchen window and can seat four people. It's a pleasant spot for eating and the table also provides good work surface for catching up on emails since apartment has free WiFi.

Nice apt in good location
The apt is an easy walk (10 minute) from SM train station. It is also a great location to see all the tourist sites in Florence. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops are just steps away. Our hostess, Chiara was super friendly. She showed us around the apt.and gave us local information. Also included was an Italian cell phone to use for local calls and to call her for any questions or assistance. The apt was nicely appointed and clean. There was a lovely bottle of red and some munchies welcoming us when we arrived.
The only drawback was the 77 steps up to the apt. It seemed like a lot after walking all day site-seeing.
Thank you so much Jane! The Italy Perfect Team
Comfortable Apartment in Great Location
We loved Chiara's apartment.
Even though we had a flight delay and arrived quite late on our arrival date, Chiara cheerfully greeted us, and showed us how to use all the appliances, where everything was located in the apartment, etc.
The basket of goodies that Chiara gave us, especially the bottle of wine, was greatly appreciated.
The information book Chiara provided was detailed and had lots of info about the sites, restaurants and Mass times in Florence--lots of helpful information.
.The apartment was clean and the bed comfy, and, even though we didn't cook, the kitchen had everything you would need if you wanted to cook meals.
We loved the location--very close to the Central Market, the Duomo--we could easily walk to the Florence museums and other sites.
We would definitely stay in this apartment again.
Thank you for your kind review, Nancy! The Italy Perfect Team
Great location, great property, great service
The apartment was perfect. Just as described in the listing. Location was excellent - we walked everywhere in the city. We ran into a problem with one of the appliances that broke during our stay. The owner acted quickly, called a service person and it was fixed the next day - with her apologies. Highly recommend this apartment.
Thank you Bruce, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay! The Italy Perfect Team
A spacious apartment close to the duomo and museums. It's very clean and well equipped. There are 66 steps to climb but it's up and away from the street noice. There is an air conditioner in the room that is very quiet that also helps as "white noise." Nice little coffee shop right below and an abundance of restaurants in the neighborhood. Walkable from the train station.
Thank you, Mark! The Italy Perfect Team
Chiara's apartment was perfect for our stay in Firenze. We were a few blocks from everything but the street is just outside the noisy areas. The apartment had everything we needed to cook, wash clothes, and relax. I walked to the Central Market around the block every morning for fresh bread and we ate a few time at the little trattoria next door. A ten minute walk took us to watch the sunset every night at the Arno River. Chiapas was a wonderful host and I would definitely stay again.

Perfect location! Charming apartment!
My husband and I spent 5 nights in this apartment in May and could not have been happier. It's ideally located within easy walking distance of all the major sights and train station. There are lots of good restaurants, bars, coffee shops and gift shops in the surrounding few blocks. The large and comfortable bed with plenty of pillows was nice to come home to at night. Kitchen was well stocked and the owner, Chiara, even left wine, pasta, sauce, cheese and cookies for us! She greeted us warmly and showed us how everything worked in addition to giving us a book which she had compiled which would answer many questions we might have during the visit, as well as suggesting sights, activities and restaurants. She arranged for the cab the night before our departure and it was at our door promptly at 7AM the next morning. We had a wonderful time at in every respect and would definitely stay here again if we return. Thanks for everything, Chiara!
Thank you so much, we're delighted you enjoyed your stay! The Italy Perfect Team
