Girls Getaway : Great for a girls getaway week or long weekend. Catering available for your group or special event. Golfing, hiking, horseback riding, sand dunes all within just a few short miles.
Our family of three generations had a wonderful time at this home. The many outdoor areas have amazing views of the lake and dunes and the beach is a short stroll away. Highly recommended!
Our 3-generation family group didn't want to leave this beautiful home after a long weekend. Up a long flight of stairs is the open concept main floor with kitchen, living room and full bath, and a spacious deck. Another flight up are 3 bedrooms and another bath, with s small deck off the master.
Go on up another flight to find a small kitchenette with a little nook where our young teen liked to hide away and read. Open the door and head out to the deck where the view will take your breath away.
The home is built into a tall dune, and our youngest kids burned off lots of energy running up and down. Early one morning we watched two fawns cavorting in the sand while the rest of the herd looked on. In front of the home is a fire pit where we enjoyed s'mores after dark.
The beach is about a five minute walk; we suggest driving down if you have any gear to take down, (it's all uphill coming back). There are stairs to access the narrow beach. There's enough room to settle in and watch the kids play in the waves.
There are not a lot of restaurants or stores in the immediate area, but the little camp store on Stony Lake has the basics. We suggest arriving with plenty of food and paper products; you'll enjoy the well-equipped kitchen and meals on the deck.
You won't be disappointed if you rent this fantastic home. If you have toddlers it may not be the best option; you'd have to keep a close eye on them due to the many stairs and driveway drop-off. Any other able-bodied kids and adults are going to have a blast here, and the views will knock your socks off.
I had a blast hosting a party here for the weekend with me and my guy friends. The house accommodates practically all of your needs, and it's a five minute walk to the beach.
The beach doesn't have a lot of sand, but the water is crystal clear and there is enough room to lay out.
Worth every penny.
I rented this cottage with a group of friends for a getaway weekend. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and lovely!
The cottage has a fantastic rooftop deck that is great for stargazing and watching the sunset. There is also a kitchenette with a refrigerator, eliminating the need to climb lots of stairs when you need a refreshment.
A short walk brings you right to Lake Michigan! We would load all of our gear up into one car and have someone drive it down for us, then we could relax on the beach for hours. We took multiple walks along the beach and enjoyed the natural beauty.
There's a firepit next to the house with a picnic table. It was incredibly relaxing to sit by the fire with a gorgeous view of the lake.
The owner was very friendly and quick to answer any questions that we had by email. They had wifi set up in the house so while there isn't any cell service, we weren't completely off the grid.
All in all, a great property at a great price, and we look forward to returning next year!
The cottage is in a really quiet neighborhood on lake michigan. You walk down the hill from the cottage to the beach access. The beach is pretty narrow at the closest beach access, but there is another one where it is a bit deeper. The property was very clean and well keep up. The kitchen is modern and very well set up for cooking with a gas grill on the porch and a fire ring in the yard. There are TV's with cable service in all bedrooms and living room. Its a great property
The views from the cottage are amazing and a highlight is the dramatic sunsets over Lake Michigan. In this neighborhood your cell phones don't work at all, so you need to have a phone credit card or you are unreachable unless you drive near the freeway, a 15 minute drive. The unplugged aspect was really very nice. In the area there huge dunes to climb and charming towns with great resturants to explore such as Pentwater. And kitchy beach towns like Silver lake with miny golf, ice cream shacks, go carts and bumper boats. There are many very inexpensive but nice golf course near by too.
The stairs are quite numerous and steep, which makes it not great for toddlers and the eldery. We stayed there with our 2 teenage sons and they really enjoyed the area and the property.
Once I paid the rent for the week it was one of the cheapest vacations ever because all close by restuarants are inexpensive and its nice to just hang out on the porch, grill out, walk on the beach, go to the nearby farmer's markets for the best pies ever, etc.
Relax on the beautiful sandy beach or swim in Lake Michigan. Also, Stony Lake is just around the corner and offers a public swimming area, picnic area with playground and baseball diamond. The Stony Lake Store rents tubes for tubing the channel to Lake Michigan. Perfect for kids (and adults too) shallow all the way through and it takes approximately 1 1/2 hours. Golf at four courses only minutes away. Horseback riding and winery are also in the area. Manistee Casino is approximately 1 hour north and there's Michigan Adventure Amusement Park less than 1/2 hour away! Silver Lake Sand Dunes for a dune ride, only 5 miles North where you will also find Craig's Cruisers, a variety of restaurants and shops. If want boutique type shopping and more restaurants, Pentwater is less than 1/2 hour north.
