About Robbie Bell

My name is Robbie Bell. I work in real estate. I love to travel. After having the opportunity to travel to many different cities, I still believe that Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The history, architecture, and local culture of Savannah are all unique. What better way to experience the architecture and history of Savannah than staying in a beautiful historic home? I really can't think of any.

This picture was taken while visiting Chengdu, China in early 2009. While in Chengdu, I was fortunate enough to visit the Giant Panda Research Center and interact with a panda cub, under the supervision of a research scientist.

Robbie Bell purchased this house in 2000

Why Robbie Bell chose Savannah

I believe that Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I had always dreamed of owning a historic home in this incredible city. In 2000, I purchased this home, which at the time was operating as an owner occupied Bed and Breakfast. For 2 years, I operated the property as a Bed and Breakfast. In 2002, my family and I were able to travel to Italy. While in Italy, the entire family stayed in a villa. After that experience, I decided that families and groups traveling to Savannah should be able to experience my city that way too. In 2003, I ceased operating this home as a Bed and Breakfast and began offering this property as a vacation rental home exclusively. Savannah is such a great city...why not experience the history for yourself.

What makes this house unique

Our home is conveniently located in the heart of Savannah’s landmark historic district on Broughton Street between Price and Houston Street. Guests can easily walk to our beautiful green squares & other historic sites. There are many shops and fine restaurants within a five minute walk. We have off-street parking for two vehicles as well as street parking.

Great property - Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Savannah. The house is really nice, but the best part is the location. You can walk to just about everywhere. Tons of great food options nearby. The owners were very responsive to the emails and answering all the questions we had. Overall I would rate this stay a 9.8 out of 10.

Why? Two things. Insecure WIFI and Parking Garage is way too small.

Since we work at a tech company, we understand the value of secure internet. The WIFI at this house doesn't have a password so it's an insecure connection (hint: don't login to your bank account). We just used a VPN to get around this, but I recommend the owners to put a password on their routers (very easy) but it will protect guest's information from intruders. Right now anyone can login to the network and setup a sniffer to steal passwords (sorry for the techy lingo).

The other issue was the garage. It's not made for SUVs. I read another review that mentioned this when booking the property, but trust me it's really small.

I parked my rental SUV in there with the help of my friend navigating. My other friend didn't feel comfortable parking his BMW x5 in there but we got lucky. We met the housekeeper and she let us park the car next door (because that property is also owned by the same owner) and it was vacant for the duration of our stay.

Since everything was in the walking distance, I never had to drive during our entire 5 day stay. So this wasn't a big issue for us.

If you have a small car (i.e Camry or Corolla) you'd be fine. Larger car owners, if you don't feel comfortable parking, then you can also feed the city parking meter in front of the house.

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time over the Christmas Holiday with our daughters, spouses, grandchildren and their spouses.

We especially enjoyed being in the historic district. We were able to walk everywhere and did not need to use our

car. The house was beautiful and we loved the look.

Wonderful place and location

  • 5 of 5

Me and a large group of friends stayed here and were taken back by its excellence. The house is expertly maintained and a perfect example of the wonderful and historical city it is located in. The house is located within walking distance of everywhere you would want to go in Savannah and everything that you could need comes with the house. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to stay and would return again with no hesitation.

Perfect trip to Savannah

  • 5 of 5

We planned our trip to Savannah for a bachelorette party. We had 6 girls attending. A friend had suggested Savannah Villas to us so we checked out their website. We loved what we saw so we booked. Helen was prompt to return phone call or emails and a pleasure to work with.

The location of the house was central to all the activities we wanted to do. The house was beautifully decorated and we had plenty of room. It was perfect!

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Went for a long weekend with friends and rented both the main and carriage house. The house is very convenient and well appointed. We checked ourselves in and out so never met Helen or Robbie but really no need as we had everything we needed. They gave plenty of information and were great for answering any questions prior to our arrival. For a large group, this place is perfect as there is plenty of room to spread out. As mentioned by another reviewer, if you are a light sleeper, you may want to pack ear plugs as old windows allow noise to penetrate. Also, if I were to return, I would not consider using the pull out in the carriage house. This may work for kids for not for 40+. I would return and recommend this place, with those caveats.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

The house is great. There are three bedrooms that are comfortable - the master has an attached bath and the other two share a bathroom. There's another bedroom and bath in the carriage house above the garage. Free internet. The house is on the edge of town on Broughton, which made it very walkable to most places in the city. We had a great time and the owners even gave a quick call to confirm that everything was going well. Overall, fantastic experience!
