This warm and private 1850's Nantucket Island half-Cape has every amenity a vacation rental home can offer. Located in the Old Historic District of Nantucket Town, it is situated on a quiet one-way lane just minutes from Main Street and convenient to all of the activities of the Island. The property offers off-street parking and a private fenced yard with patio. The home has three bedrooms and three baths, accommodating up to six people; living-room, dining room, gourmet kitchen; chef's pantry; and laundry/mud room. This 1850 antique half-Cape was completely renovated in 2004. The entire house is completely insulated. The house is heated with radiant heat. There is new plumbing and wiring throughout along with new interior walls. The gourmet kitchen has an antique heart pine floor, hickory cabinets, four burner with griddle gas dual fuel range and granite counters. Appliances are state-of-the-art. All three bedrooms are on the second floor (two queens and two twins).

General Comments: Situated on a quiet one-way street with minimal traffic, this inviting home is tranquil and meets all of your living needs. Easy eight minute walk to Main Street. No public street parking and island shuttle bus stop is at end of Weymouth Street.

House Description: The house is a circa 1850 half-cape. It was completely remodeled and updated in 2002. There are three full baths in the home; two new full baths, one on the first floor, one on the second floor, each with a shower and a remodeled full bath with tub on the second floor. All three bedrooms are on the second floor: two queen sized and two twin beds. It has a state-of-the-art kitchen and is comfortable for a couple or a party of six. The patio has a private bricked in area with a gas grill. There is ample off-street parking for one car.

Nice house but bad experience with owner

The house is very nice. I originally rated it a 5 out of 5 with all things considered. It was a comfortable stay, it was very close to town and ideal for around 6 people. Can fit more but not sleep more. The house is spacious and has a parking spot.

Unfortunately, I've had to remove my previous review and re-write it since the owner has failed to communicate to me for the past 50 days regarding the return of my security and damage deposit. He has not provided me with any information regarding the money. He is now in breach of contract for failing to return my security deposit within 45 days. It is a shame because I would have stayed at this house again if it were not for this matter of a couple hundred dollars. I would advise against giving this landlord your money as even if he delivers 90% of your promise he'll fail on that last 10. I like landlords to be as consistent as I am. I had a wonderful stay and this nonsense has ensured I will never stay again. Give someone else on Nantucket your money, this person hasn't earned it.

Owner's Response: Security deposits are returned 45 days after occupancy in order to be able to catch all of the billing cycles for vendors such as Comcast to determine if there are any accrued charges from renter occupancy. In this case there was an administrative oversight in that the monies were sent out before the 45 days but I did not request for confirmation of receipt from the renter. Until the review was submitted I had no know ledge of the fact that the money was not received, but sent to another party in error. Moving forward, in the future I will email each renter upon mailing and ask for their confirmation of receipt of the returned monies.

Great Nantucket Experience

Since we have no major complaints, we heartily recommend 6 Weymouth for anyone looking for an authentic Nantucket Town experience in an "antique" home. Nice well equipped kitchen, updated baths and close enough for a pleasant walk into town. Close to Sayles Seafood and Hatches package store. Nice restaurant nearby too. All in all, a nice alternative to B&Bs and other more expensive homes. Have stayed here twice and would stay again.

Great stay!

Overall I was extremely impressed with the house! It was beautiful and very spacious, I actually think the pictures do not do it justice. The bedrooms were large and the kitchen was open. The outdoor patio space is a great place to hang out and relax and grill. The location is ideal, a short walk to town. The street is very well kept and quiet. I would definitely rent again!

Classic Nantucket Charm and Location!

If you are looking for that classic Nantucket experience, this is your place! As a frequent visitor to Nantucket for the past 35+ years, I have always had the desire to stay in a 'true' Nantucket home.

This rambling half cape is larger than it appears; offering the best of both worlds...charm AND a wonderful working (modern) kitchen, clean updated baths, and picture perfect outdoor space.

The one word that comes to mind is "comfortable"...a family would do well here.

The home is fairly priced and as represented on the website.

Not a "fussy" place; if you are looking for super-shiny high end (untouchable) perfect, you'd probably enjoy one of the over-priced hotels in lieu of this sweet spot.

If you love the real Nantucket for its beauty, quaint homes and history, this one is for you.

The location is great and the street is both pretty and quiet.

A quick walk will bring you to Sayle's Seafood (take out a hot yummy dinner to eat at 'home') and 56 Union.

An easy, pleasant stroll will get you to town and the harbor front.

The owners are accessible and easy to work with.

A very nice stay, all the way around!

Great Location, house needs work

This house is in a great location and it is private and quiet. The owner was good to work with. The house was clean when we arrived, but the laundry was left for us to finish. The kitchen and baths are clean and updated. The furniture needs updating and it is worn and dirty. The master bed is very uncomfortable. Bed linens are quite old and the bath towels were old. Several lamps were broken or did not have shades. Many windows did not have screens. The house needs work.

Owner's Response: Laundry was not finished by the turnover staff. There has never been a problem of laundry being left undone. The turnover "window" is limited. The house is clean for each arrival. Furniture is all new in the last three years. "Old" furniture statement is incorrect. The furniture is not "dirty". All furniture has slip covers to address this condition. One overstuffed chair has been replaced because of damage done by a tenant. The master bed comfort quotient is a subjective opinion. Bed linens have been replaced as well as any towels so there is no basis for further criticism of "wear". Lamps are not broken or lack shades.They were checked out by the caretaker. The tenant was advised prior to occupancy that one half of the windows have permanent screens, the other half can be fitted with the dozen adjustable screens kept in the downstairs closet as advised in a Helpful Hints memo sent to the tenant before occupancy. The house does not need work. There are many pleased tenants which have occupied this house.

Great Location - As Promised

Charming house on quiet street. Owner was very easy to work with, accessable, and honest. House was just as it was described and everything in the house was in good condition. The kitchen, fridge, washer/dryer, tv, wifi, air conditioners, and even the beach chairs worked perfectly. The griddle on the range was great for morning pancakes. The side patio is very convenient, just off the kitchen, and is a great place for a private meal. The patio in 2011 has nicer teak table and chairs than the photo on this site. Driveway will fit two vehicles. Short and easy walk to center of town.

Six Weymouth is a short walk up Orange Street or Union Street from Main Street (approx 6 minutes), the Boat Basin, Straight Wharf (Hy-Line Cruises Ferry), and the Steamship Authority. A 1 minute walk takes you to the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum and the island bus shuttle. For fine dining, the 56 Union Street Restaurant is minutes away by foot. Sayles Seafoods on Washington Street is only a 4 minute walk. The house is an easy tthree minute walk from the Great Harbor Yacht Club. Six Weymouth Street is easily accessible to most of the in-town activities. All of the town beaches are nearby using bicycle, car, or shuttle bus. The island shuttle bus stop is a one minute walk from the house. The shuttle bus can get you to any event or place of interest on the island. You do not need to bring a car to enjoy the house or the island..
