Guestbook comments from the owner

We're home now and still thinking of our wonderful trip to St. Helena and your lovely home. We stayed at the St. Helena Vineyard Villa house and loved it. We spent most of the first evening out on the patio enjoying the wonderful stars, which was a treat for those of us who live with city lights. We walked to the new winery Castillo di Amorosa and really enjoyed the tour. Thanks again, it's a lovely property and a wonderful location. We may visit you again; we didn't get to nearly all the places we had hoped.

The perfect Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from the perfect vacation and I wanted to share my experience. What a fabulous home and an amazing location. The property is located in the vineyards and we even were able to walk to a local winery. The house is better than the photos, with a well stocked kitchen, good bedding and sofas and is architecturally stunning. It is very peaceful and was a wonderful experience.

Comfortable but needs TLC

  • 3 of 5

This is one of the slightly more affordable places in the St. Helena area to host a family gathering...and as such, there are tradeoffs. . Its a lovely setting in the vineyard, closer to Calistoga than St. Helena. Prepare for NO internet and no cell phone (AT&T) or minimal with other carriers. No land line either. This can be a plus, but it can also be a problem if youre not prepared to be fully out of touch.

The good: Kitchen layout is great for entertaining with a nice big island. Nice to have a detached extra unit to allow a bit more privacy for a couple or for kids. Gorgeous setting and a great fireplace in the comfortable living room off the kitchen.

The bad:

The furnishings overall are comfortable but tired: chipped plates, peeling no-stick pans, stained sheets, bedspread and towels. Loose hardware and plumbing connections, and no amenities in bathrooms (except a tiny disc of soap next to each sink.) Non-serviceable tv/music system.

The road in has dips that turn into serious ponds in the rain. It was kind of fun, actually, but we were there in steady rain and the road in became barely passable without an suv.

We enjoyed our stay, but wished it felt like more care was taken to provide an experience on par with the price tag (comparatively low but still a chunk of change).

Owner's Response: Thank you for your note, it is always good to get feed back. The property is a true country property located in the vineyards, which is unique to Napa Valley. You did arrive during a great rain storm and were informed that the road would be muddy. I wish you would have contacted me about usage of the TV, it is satellite and may have been confusing to operate, though instructions are at the property. I don't have control over cell phone coverage, but other providers have good service in the area. I am not aware of a stain on a sheet or a scratch on a pan but it will be investigated and replaced. I take pride in the presentation of the property. When we spoke online you said you enjoyed your visit. Please come back again.

Highly recommend this property to anyone!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time in Napa and truly enjoyed our stay at this St. Helena Vineyard Villa! There were 6 of us (3 couples) that stayed in this beautiful home. The location was perfect, secluded yet close to most vineyards. We found it clean, nice kitchen appliances, great outdoor firepit, and overall very well maintained.

The owner provided great communication throughout the reservation process and very good follow through on all questions.

We went to several wineries and enjoyed the Conn Creek Winery the best. They have a wine blending experience that was very cool and fun!

We would highly recommend this property to all our friends and family! We hope to make it back soon and will stay at this St. Helena Vineyard Villa again!

A Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently visited this villa for a long weekend to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary. We invited two couples to join us and this home suited us perfectly.

The home is clean and inviting and the large kitchen is especially nice. We felt right at home and enjoyed making meals together throughout our stay.

The location of this home is very convenient for those who want to explore all that Napa Valley has to offer. Most everywhere we wanted to go was only a 10-20 minute drive away.

We recommend this villa to anyone wanting to feel at "home" in Napa Valley!

Dream Getaway Home

  • 5 of 5

I am not a person who is usually inclined to write a review on a vacation rental, however this home and property took my breath away. This gorgeous villa is tucked away in the middle of a pristine 30 acre vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley. The house is incredible and amazingly dramatic (made for great photos); it really felt like we went somewhere! This house is ideal for entertaining and eating at home as it boasts a gigantic top of the line kitchen, large dining room table and beautiful outdoor patio furniture. Additionally you can tell the owner is very detail oriented as every bed and bathroom has luxury bedding and towels. I could go on and on, but my family and I IMMENSELY enjoyed our stay! Thank you for sharing your amazing home!

Very secluded home in the vineyards of Calistoga

  • 2 of 5

At Homeaway.com I searched for homes in the Napa Valley with a pool and found this St. Helena Vineyard Villa. I double checked the amenities where "Outdoor Pool" was listed along with "swimming" under activities and the price was in line with other homes with private pools in the area. Imagine my disappointment upon arrival to find no pool. After contacting the owner I was informed that the pool she was referring to was a pool at a hotel over 10 miles away and it was too late for her to make arrangements for us to use it!

It's a nice sized home with a great room perfect for gathering in the family room for games or late night chats. The kitchen has a huge center island with seating for eight where we served up a big lunch and enjoyed the views of the valley.

I have to mention that there's a huge spider issue. The drains in all the sinks and showers had been plugged I imagine to keep spiders from entering, but there were always spiders in the tubs. More than just a spider here and there, they were everywhere! At midnight a large spider crawling on my head woke me. I turned on the light and found him and 4 others on walls in the bedroom! Wolf spiders, roaches, silverfish and even a lizard on the cooktop in morning. Fortunately only one of us was bitten during the night and it's healing well. I'd recommend bringing bug bombs and setting them off the night before your stay then coming back in the morning to air it out, particularly if you have small children. I used a can of Lysol I brought with me to spray under furniture and beds but was still overwhelmed.

It is a very secluded home in the vineyards, very private. In the listing it's mentioned that it's new but it is not a new home. It needs some TLC, dusting, wall touch ups, plumbing fixes.

Another reviewer mentioned that they wished the kitchen was better equipped I have to agree and add that an investment of $30 for a new DVD player would make a nice addition. I had hoped there would be a way to watch movies from my online library but the video equipment was extremely old. An old CRT TV and broken DVD with no HDMI input. There was no internet and limited cellular service available. And the bathrooms had no shampoo and a round of soap the size of a quarter.

It is a great spot to get away from it all, rest, read and enjoy the views, difficult to do much more than that here.
