Lovely Cottage by the Sea
What a lovely stay at George’s cottage! This 3 bedroom was very comfortable for 5 of us, had plenty of privacy with the beautiful vegetation in the yard, and of course the quaint environment of Maushop Village. The property was towards the back of the community, with few cars passing by. If you have not stayed in this area before, there are so many wonderful things to do including the beach, Popponesset Marketplace, and our favorite... renting bikes in Falmouth and riding the Shining Sea Trail to Woods Hole for a treat at Pie in the Sky! Note, the cell service is quite patchy in the area, and navigation systems don’t always take you where you intend to go, so pack printed directions to get to and around Maushop Village. We would certainly stay here again!
Lovely cottage. Clean and comfortable. Steps from beach
Had a great time.
We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again😊
Enjoyed our time!
We drove into the village and were greeted at the gate. We were a bit early so we went to the marketplace while the cleaners finished. The area was quaint and nice, in a short walk, you had everything avail you would want, ice cream, coffee, pizza shop, candy store, mini golf ++ and live music in the evenings. Lots of families with young children for which I feel this area is perfect for! We have a 14 yr old and twins age 8 and there weren’t a lot of kids their age but that was okay as this was a family vacation...but I can see how fun it would be to go with a group of friends or family. I’m not sure how many were renters vs owners but most people kept to themselves with the odd hello or a wave. The evenings would be quiet until the families would walk back from the marketplace after it shut down...maybe 10ish? Since there was no A/C our windows were open so we could hear everything. Sleeping was no problem as it was quiet after 10pm. It got very hot at night but all the fans were a much appreciated breeze.
The unit itself has everything you’d need. The kitchen even has a lobster pot! We found the space fine for 2 adults and 3 kids. We didn’t spend a lot of time inside except for evenings.
In terms of other supplies, we had to purchase toilet paper as we were given I think 2 rolls for the week for 5 ppl. 4 of us are girls! :) We also grabbed more laundry soap. Dish soap needed refilling. Easily done.
Cleanliness was excellent. The only thing I would say is the patio area could use a spruce up or in the very least, a good sweep and spray down with the hose. The roof appears as though its made of pine needles so on a windy day, they’re constantly blowing off onto the patio or into your drink or food. The outdoor shower was great and we used it quite a bit!
I would recommend water shoes as the beach is rocky in that area. The water was lovely and warm. Lots of beach equipment and wagon which we really appreciated on beach days.
Overall we had an excellent stay and enjoyed the area very much! Thanks so much!
George's cottage was excellent! It was spacious and clean, and was an excellent experience for our group. The instructions for the property were clear and well-written, and the cooking supplies were sufficient for our needs for the whole weekend. I would recommend this property to anyone looking at a vacation in the New Seabury area.
Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay in our Cottage.
Best stay in Maushop yet
My husband and I, and our two very little children just returned from an awesome week at 9 Wharf. We have stayed in several Maushop units over the years, and this one, being a three-bedroom, offered a larger living space which made a big difference. The mattresses in the house are also new, and it was the first time I left Maushop where I didn't feel like I was sleeping in a bunk at summer camp all week - so nice. The outdoor shower is a major bonus and is spacious and well-kept. We brought our own beach chairs and toys, but they had a bunch of that stuff available to use including a beach wagon which is very helpful with all of the little things to lug to the beach. The pictures of the cottage online are a little outdated because there have been furniture updates made, so the place is actually nicer than it looks in the current photos. Great kitchen with everything you need and a dishwasher. We always have a blast in Maushop/Popponesset, but tight living quarters can make you feel ready to head home at the end of the week and this was the first time I felt like I would have been totally comfortable staying longer. Thanks to the owners for providing a great experience for renters!
Thank you for your kind words. We work hard each year to make our guests vacations a bit more enjoyable and it is nice to know that it worked for you.
We hope to see you again.
Great property/ great location
We loved our stay at 9 wharf Ave. Sleeping arrangements for 8 adults was a little tight, but do able. House was cozy but really nice. Didn't spend much time inside, this property has a really large outdoor patio area (much larger than any we saw in the community). Awesome out door shower, we never stepped foot in the indoor one! Houses are right on top of one another in the community, but with the way this property is positioned, your our door area is fairly private. 1 minute walk to the beach, a few minutes walk to maushop village (little grocery store, coffee shop, restaurants and shops). Very cute community. Great for families with kids. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. We had an amazing vacation on the cape! Thank you George and Barbara!
So glad you and your family had an enjoyable stay at our cottage. We love Maushop Village and entering our third decade here all I can say is that it only gets better and better !!!
Enjoy privacy on your patio or the Maushop Village private beach is just seconds away. Take a short walk to the Marketplace for shopping, a quick snack, mini golf, bike rentals, or entertainment. Walk, bike or jog on one of the many New Seabury trails past the ocean, ponds, or just the tree-lined paths. A short drive leads to one of the many nearby restaurants, the Mashpee Common with 90+ shops, a movie theater, three supermarkets, or a day trip to the islands. In short, do as much or as little as you wish.
