Great location with flaws.
beautiful villa in a quiet setting, yet close striking distance from attractions of Tuscany. 5 bedrooms on 2nd floor were nice. 3rd floor bedrooms have low overhead clearance. Big dining room. Brought the ping pong table inside so we could use it at night.
It was a little chilly for using the pool. Beautiful grounds.
Upon arrive we were greeted by Fabrizio (and his English speaking daughter) who showed us undated pictures of 3 electrical meters and informed us that we would be allotted 600 KW of power and be charged for anything in excess of that. He said the last group of 14 guests used $xxx over allotment. If I had it to do over, I would insist upon seeing the meters in realtime. At the end, he said we had used considerably more than previous group with higher guest count. We had an Italian speaker with us who talked him down (reluctantly) to to a lower amount based on the fact that he said most of the power was for the pool equipment which we were unable to enjoy. We used the power VERY FRUGALLY. We refrained from using blow driers, never used the AC, walked up and down darkened stair wells and left the 3rd floor untouched. Every night, at around 8pm when we were gathered in the dining room, a foul odor (sewer gas?) would present itself. We never got used to that nor did we solve the mystery as to it's origin. There were ants in our bedrooms. The caretaker, Georgio, brought us insect spray, but we didn't want to contaminate our sleeping space so we lived with the infestation. There was a washing machine in the basement that had a mind of it's own. It would run for hours unless we manually adjusted it to drain. No drier. The kitchen was completely barren of even the most rudimentary condiments. No salt or pepper to be found. No dish soap. We guessed that each new group must purchase the basics over and over and over. One small roll of toilet paper for each bathroom for a weeks stay? We are seasoned travelers and use VRBO consistently. Weighing the Pros vs Cons we will pass on this lovely Villa next time.
Huge Elegant Villa, 30km from Volterra!
A very nice villa, classic elegant, spacious and immersed in the Tuscan countryside. The latter is definitely its strong point: from the windows and the pool the view is breathtaking.
We enjoyed the villa, we took advantage of the kitchen and the large dining room all together and the pool for a dip in the hottest moments. We also took the opportunity to go to see volterra which, for fans of fantasy, is the city of vampires described in the Twilight saga. Beyond that, it is beautiful village, absolutely worth seeing.
I suggest this villa and the trip to Volterra to anyone, from kids to adults: relax and fun in this wonderful villa!
The villa of our dreams!
Last September we had the great chance to stay at the Villa Etrusca for a family meeting. Our experience could not have been better. The home was beautifully furnished and appointed. It was well-stocked with everything we needed. Everyone's needs were beautifully met. The number of beds in the house is perfect for a large party. The house was spacious and had everything we could possibly need and much much more (all of the highest quality). The kitchen at the pool area was fabulous.
Perfect, I'll definitely come back!
Great villa, fantastic holiday
We were very happy of our holiday.
The villa, the garden and the swimming pool were really nice. We really enjoyed our time in the villa. Also, we managed to make some trip and visit a little bit this area. Extremely worthy.
Everything in the villa was perfect and the estate was provided of everything.
We enjoyed it a lot. The staff services were very good and the staff of Villa & Charme was really kind and at our complete disposal.
The accommodation was wonderful
Our family had a spectacular time at Villa & Charme. The accommodation was wonderful - all rooms as we had expected. We loved the setting - couldn't have been better - and the large outdoor table under the pergola was where we spent much of our time. The pool was spectacular for us - and, given that our group included 6 children under 6, the wading pool was perfect.
Most of all, the family who owned the villa was wonderful. They prepared many memorable meals for us and accommodated us in so many ways.
They were super responsive and wonderfully hospitable.
We would highly recommend this villa to anyone interested.
A Heaven on the Tuscan coast!
We really had a great experience. From the very beginning of the booking process the communication was very smooth and prompt.
We - three families, in total 8 adults and 6 children - had a great stay in this beautiful and comfortable house.
Inside and outside the villa it's very calm, at night is quiet and silence. The house was clean and spotless and was very well furnished with an amazing kitchen outside full equipped, which was great as we spent a few nights cooking. All the stuff inside is absolutely high-end. Large dining area, plenty pleasant rooms, and the bathrooms are clean and are properly working.
The swimming pool is just perfect for our big family. The best of the house is, however, its calm and peace atmosphere, which is due to the location in the 'middle of nowhere', but close to everything the village and the beaches.
Lot of space makes the place perfect to stay, and it was important for our large family to be comfortable inside too. I am so grateful for this stay that I would definitely come again next time.
