About Kelly Newcomer
I am an artist and designer and I live down the street with my spouse, Jamie and our two boys aged 11 & 14. The Red House Uptown is where we all lived together for 14 years. At first we had a couple of guys renting the first floor unit. Then Jamie's mom moved in there and she lived with us for 10 years until she had to go to an assisted living house down the street. Then we got some new furniture and turned the unit into a short term rental and began our adventure in 2017 as hosts. Jamie and I recently moved about a mile to the south rented our upstairs unit to a couple of the nicest people you ever will meet. They have a teenager and a small well-behaved little dog and they are all very respectful and good communicators. Our home is a duplex, so each floor is a separate locked apartment. We love walking our dog in the neighborhood, canoeing the chain of lakes (Ask us about using our canoe if we're not using it), going out to see live music and doing art. Jamie and I grew up in the neighborhood and we love Uptown.

Loved the Red House
My husband and I had a wonderful weekend staying at The Red House. We were in town visiting our son who lives in Uptown, so it was a great location for us. The Red House was perfect for our weekend, so comfortable and quaint with everything we needed to be comfortable and relaxed. Neighborhood was quiet, yet still within walking distance to many restaurant options. No complaints at all.
Wow thanks for that kind review! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave my place clean and the kind note you left, but then you also left that nice bottle of red wine which I love! Thank you so much. Happy travels!
Return to the Red House
This is our 2nd summer renting the Red House and we already reservedour vacation next Summer. I think that says it all!
We love hosting the Melins! Linda and Dan treat our place with care and leave it clean. They are a fascinating world-traveling couple with lovely adult kids. Their little dog is adorable and well-behaved! I feel thankful to have them stay with us.
Loved This Place!
Location was perfect - bike ride to downtown - right between Hennepin and Lyndale. Clean. Nice shower. Very helpful property manager.
Wow thanks for the nice review. That’s awesome you rode bikes to downtown You probably took the Bryant Avenue bikeway. It takes you on a bike bridge over the freeway. Then you ride up through Loring park. NiceRide rental bikes are located a block away.
Thanks for taking such great care of our place! -Kelly
Very lovely stay.
Perfect for visiting nearby relatives. Kelly was so gracious to leave eggs, cheese curds (my first), and beverages for my use. The home was very cozy and clean. Definitely recommend.
Wow, I am so glad you liked the cheese curds! I love to surprise our guests with some regional treats in the kitchen in case they are hungry. We certainly appreciate the Aamodt's Orchard apple butter you left us! Thank you for choosing The Red House Uptown as your base while visiting your family here in Minneapolis! I feel very fortunate to have hosted you.
Cozy place in a fun neighborhood
Loved this cozy apartment - all the charm of an old house but updated and modern. Bed was sooo comfy! Great neighborhood that’s residential but has great restaurants and several coffee shops within walking distance. Kelly was genuinely “Minnesota nice” so I felt really comfortable. There are no hotels in this area, so it was great to experience what it would be like to live here. Really nice, highly recommend it.
Fabulous house. Perfect location! Better than pictures!
We really enjoyed having Tara and her family stay here at The Red House Uptown! They were the kind of people who like to walk and bike and be active. Also quiet, polite, and clean. Great communicator. We would love to host you again. Thanks for staying with us.
We are a block or two from all the great restaurants, cafes and bars in Uptown Minneapolis (such as Bryant Lake Bowl, Meyvn's, Morrissey's, Urban Bean, Volstead's Emporium, Up-Down Arcade, It's Greek To Me, Hasty Tasty, Blue Door Pub, Szechuan Spice, & Saigon).
