About Mark Rosenleaf
I love Rock Creek. My parents purchased this property in the mid-70's, and we enjoyed it for many summers. My mom passed away in 2009 and I inherited the place. We started building the cabin in 2012. We went pretty hard for about 2 years, at which point it was far from finished but move-in ready. We were out of money, so for the next 4 years we've continued work as we have money. With the exception of the concrete, the plumbing and the roofing, we did all of the work ourselves (with a lot of help from our great friends, and we take a lot of pride in it). With the addition of the deck in the summer of 2017, it's pretty much done. We use the place as often as we can, but our daughter is in traveling sports, so that impacts our ability to get out to our favorite place. We figured if we can't enjoy it, we might as well let others. Future plans include an outdoor wood-fired sauna, a hot tub, a small deck off the back, and a detached garage. Why "Fortress of Solitude"? During the fire season of 2017, I asked the fire fighters why my property was the only one in the subdivision without sprinklers running 24/7. I was told that they called our place "the fort" because it's got a concrete foundation, metal and concrete siding, metal soffit and fascia and a metal roof. "If a fire swept through here, yours would be the only place standing", one fire fighter told me. The second part of that is that I find the place very serene and relaxing. I'm pretty high strung and always have to be on the move, doing something. At Rock Creek, I can relax, read a book, or just sit around. It's my Fortress of Solitude.

Great Rock Creek Retreat
Exactly as advertised, with very hospitable owners. Highly recommended!
Thanks Will. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come again!
Mark and Heidi's cabin is amazing. We had everything we needed. Mark was quick to respond with any questions that we had.
We rented it for a ski weekend at Discovery. We arrived Friday night, in the dark, with some serious snow flurries. Sat. morning allowed us to take in the beauty that surrounded us. Amazing!! Our close friends got engaged at the cabin. It was definitely a memorable trip. We all hope to make it back this summer.
Thanks Mark and Heidi for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.

Peacful & Comfortable
What a wonderful place to stay for a couple of days. House is and surrounding area are very quiet. The house is comfortable and inviting. Took no time to feel like our place for the weekend. Walking distance to hiking, fishing and just being outdoors.
Thank you Kaci and thanks for leaving it so clean. I’m glad you had a nice time. Just out of curiosity, what could we do to get a 5 star rating from you? We aim to provide the best experience we can.
Everything in the home was as advertised or better. We were very happy with the cabin and the amenities. We are already planning our trip back next year!!
Rock Creek cabin
Our group had a great time at Mark’s family cabin. The cabin was as described. The fire ring and porch were both great places to meet and reminisce on the day’s adventures. Mark was a great host and it’s obvious he takes a lot of pride in this gem. I hope to stay and visit with Little Bear (neighborhood dog) again next year!
Thank you for the great review. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you return next year.
