Ken and Barbara live in southern New Hampshire, and are close enough to Seaside Serenity to address all your concerns. Barbara would love to be in Maine all season, but her job as a Nurse-Midwife requires her to be close to home to tend to her moms and babies. Ken is semi retired and available to answer all your questions and concerns!
Barbara Watrous and Ken Roy purchased this cottage in 2004
After many family trips to Maine, we finally found our perfect spot...an authentic Maine cottage which takes you back to a time of carefree summer days, reading on the porch, and listening to the sound of the sea, wind, and Rockland waterways.
We have worked hard to maintain the antique charm of a unique Maine cottage while providing those special comforts which make it 'home'. We welcome you to come and enjoy our special home.
Scenic ocean views of the Rockland Habour from the large spacious deck. Cozy home and with all the amenitites of home. The outside shower...Fabulous!!! A perfect place for a family vacation and getaway. Barb and Ken provide a perfect place to relax and enjoy the Maine coast. Great location.
This lovely home has a great view of the water, and a rocky shoreline is just a short walk away. Our family of five stayed for a week (kids are 14, 12, and 9). There was plenty of room for all us to spread out and have time to ourselves, as well as plenty of spaces to gather as a family. Lots to do around the area, but one of our favorite things to do was search the rocky shore for sea glass and heart shaped rocks! The care and attention to detail that these homeowners have is so refreshing - the home was lovingly decorated and cared for. A wonderful family vacation for all of us! Thanks Barb and Ken!
This was our second time staying at the cottage. It's a truly beautiful home with gorgeous surroundings. We loved the privacy, the beach down the way and the relaxing peacefulness of the area. The house is spacious with plenty of places for everyone to hang out. We were 3 children and 3 adults and we had places to gather together and places to have some solitude. Comfy beds with nice linens, lovely antiques and furnishings, and pretty views from every angle. Favorite parts were the big porch for reading, daily dips in the ocean right down the dirt road, fire pit at night and good night sleeps in comfy beds.
This charming century old cottage has been maintained and augmented with all the comforts of down East living. My family of 6 (4 kids) enjoyed all the amenities and we had lots of room to relax, play games and enjoy family time together. We had a wonderfully peaceful vacation and only wished we had booked longer.
Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage! My family and I went to Maine for 4 days to go to the famous Lobster Festival, which was only 5 minutes away! Our stay was more than peaceful. Everyone was so surprised how comfortable it was at night without air conditioning. In their words, "the best sleep I ever had." The house was very clean and quaint. Barb and Ken really make you feel right at home. I wouldn't think twice about going back!
This is a terrific spot in an out of the way location on a dead end road. (A little tricky to find after dark 1st time.) No traffic noise. Great harbor view with boats coming and going. 2 minute walk to a small, rocky, beach area. This was used as home base for the groom's family and it was perfect. Lots of room inside and great outdoor areas to accommodate comings and goings of wedding party. Very comfortable with lots of seating inside and out. The rocker collection on the front porch was well used. The kitchen is very well equipped (even an oyster knife!!!) for cooking small or large and coupled with grill served wonderfully for meals and entertaining. House is appointed with fun and tasteful items reflecting owner's life and interests. Nice vintage "Old Maine" feel. Outdoor fire pit a great way to spend evenings. The only caution is the single bathroom is on the man level and all bedrooms are on upper level up steep, narrow steps. Knee issues could present problems. If you are prone to night time bathroom visits, take care. The outdoor shower was a hit with the younger crowd! Recommend highly for quiet get away or group events. Descriptions and pictures did not do justice to the beautiful setting. The View from every area was spectacular. Owners made every attempt to make our stay enjoyable. Basket of goodies was well received. We will be back!
