Rustic Charm!!

  • 5 of 5

This charming century old cottage has been maintained and augmented with all the comforts of down East living. My family of 6 (4 kids) enjoyed all the amenities and we had lots of room to relax, play games and enjoy family time together. We had a wonderfully peaceful vacation and only wished we had booked longer.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage! My family and I went to Maine for 4 days to go to the famous Lobster Festival, which was only 5 minutes away! Our stay was more than peaceful. Everyone was so surprised how comfortable it was at night without air conditioning. In their words, "the best sleep I ever had." The house was very clean and quaint. Barb and Ken really make you feel right at home. I wouldn't think twice about going back!

Wedding Week in Owl's Head

  • 5 of 5

This is a terrific spot in an out of the way location on a dead end road. (A little tricky to find after dark 1st time.) No traffic noise. Great harbor view with boats coming and going. 2 minute walk to a small, rocky, beach area. This was used as home base for the groom's family and it was perfect. Lots of room inside and great outdoor areas to accommodate comings and goings of wedding party. Very comfortable with lots of seating inside and out. The rocker collection on the front porch was well used. The kitchen is very well equipped (even an oyster knife!!!) for cooking small or large and coupled with grill served wonderfully for meals and entertaining. House is appointed with fun and tasteful items reflecting owner's life and interests. Nice vintage "Old Maine" feel. Outdoor fire pit a great way to spend evenings. The only caution is the single bathroom is on the man level and all bedrooms are on upper level up steep, narrow steps. Knee issues could present problems. If you are prone to night time bathroom visits, take care. The outdoor shower was a hit with the younger crowd! Recommend highly for quiet get away or group events. Descriptions and pictures did not do justice to the beautiful setting. The View from every area was spectacular. Owners made every attempt to make our stay enjoyable. Basket of goodies was well received. We will be back!

I miss it already

  • 5 of 5

We had a family gathering here last week. This house was perfect. At times we had many people visiting and eating lobster. There were many different venues for sitting and visiting or just watching the view or letting the two boys just roam. For those of us who stayed in the house, the beds were comfortable, the fans did their job when Maine(!) in August got too hot and we were extremely comfortable. The view, of course, is spectacular...I have many pictures on my camera because I couldn't stop. But, I couldn't capture the hummingbird that visited daily. He would pop up, look at the porch a moment, and dash away. Even with all the people around the bathroom situation never became a problem.

The listing is accurate, the location, while not directly on the water, has great access and views, the amenities were very good and as described, and the owner was attentive and available.

I would recommend this property to a friend - my relatives were all there and loved it.

Charming, clean, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is a great location , not overly "touristy", with lots of small villages, harbors and classic Maine seacoast to visit. The cottage itself is very well maintained, roomy, clean and comfortable. Lovely, large front porch and a nice patio with firepit provided lots of places for all of the family to gather. It was a great experience overall--the owners were very friendly and helpful. Our grandson enjoyed all the chocolate treats left in the bedrooms!
