What we enjoyed our week in Loppeglia! It was a taste of Italian life.
The house is situated high in the mountains, with the car it's therefore quite a bit of climbing. The house has been beautifully renovated and fully equipped. We stayed there with two families (four adults and five children), and each had its own floor with bathroom at our disposal.
The pool is not located directly at the house but can be reached by a small path. The sun terrace by the pool has enough deckchairs/seats and the view is beautiful! The house owner is very friendly and helpful.
From Loppeglia we visited Pisa, Vinci and Lucca. Especially the last town is beautiful and worth several visits.
In Loppeglia we had, on the advice of the homeowner, dinner at several local restaurants: delicious anti-pasti, Italian hospitality and reasonable prices!
It was our first holiday in Tuscany and it was a wonderful first introduction!
We want to thank Mette and Rolf for a wonderful, memorable and pleasant holiday in Loppeglia near Lucca in Tuscany.
Our holidays started with Norwegian air to Rome, where we spent 3 days wandering among historical monuments. We then traveled by train to Lucca. Where we took a taxi to the village Loppeglia. We had booked 14 days stay in Casa Grandi in Tuscany with Mette and Rolf Hoel. We had early decided to rent a villa in the area, and when we found this house with Norwegian owner at a favorable price on the web, the choice was easy.
After 20 minutes of a thrilling ride we arrived at the village. We found a spacious house with 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room with Norwegian TV and internet.
We enjoyed our stay from day1 and with temperatures above 30 degrees, it was lovely to lie by the pool and in the hot sun. We had not rented a car the first few days, but managed well without. This was due, among other things. thanks to the owners, Mette and Rolf, who stayed in the house next door. They were the world's most pleasant and helpful people in all respects. They offered us a ride to the supermarket, retrieving our other visitors at the airport in Pisa and organizing wine tasting at a winery.
After a few days we rented a car and went around on day trips in the area. Lots of exciting trips and not least Lucca which is a delightful town. We also drove to the beach by the sea, to Vinci with the Leonardo Da Vinci museums.
One of the highlights was a day trip to Cinque Terre. We took a train to the northernmost town of Monterosso. Where we enjoyed bathing the Mediteranean before we took the boat back and got to see four of the towns from the seaside.
We also enjoyed the hospitality of the residents and tourists in the village feast in Loppeglia.
We have every reason to thank the hosts for a great holiday that tempts to be repeated.
We can confidently recommend Casa Grandi to others - safe and peaceful!
Greetings from family of eight!
We had a fantastic stay in Loppeglia. We were only 4 people staying in the house, but it easily fits a bigger crowd, having a big kitchen area and living room. The house is very nicely remodeled, with everything you need. Beeing quite hot when we visited, we were greatful to have access to a pool. From the pool area you have the most amazing view of the valley, so a nice place to relax and enjoy the afternoon. The restaurant in the village serves excellent food, we ended up eating there several evenings. We also tried the other two restaurants in the neighboring village, which is in a walking distance from the house. They are also worth a visit. The house is a great starting point for seeing other things in the region. The city of Lucca is very charming, both kids and adults liked it.
