About Ashley Acree
We love the city and we love the country. So we decided to create a modern oasis in the woods. This is not your typical rental, as we created this for our family, friends and you our guests to truly relax and explore. We love to travel, eat amazing food, shop and explore around the world. With our two sons, we have become outdoor explorers. Our hobbies include exploring, finding any and all animals, traveling, bird watching, reading, cooking, listening to music, writing, reading, laughing, drinking wine and spirits, and surfing.

Wonderful Lake House for a Family Getaway
Super cute newly renovated house perfect for a weekend getaway from DC. Lots of little details (like a kids play area) make the home very family friendly. The lake is great for fishing and lounging on a floaty. The hike around the lake was lovely and not difficult. Lots of wineries and things to do nearby. Would def visit again and recommend.
Terrific experience all around.
I don't usually take the time to review, but Ashley's place seems to demand commenting. It is beautiful, open, comfortable, accommodating, fully appointed, and in a superb setting. The view of the woods is beautiful, the path through the woods is beautiful, the woodsy walk down to the lake is beautiful. Grilling or evening smores on the deck is calming. The golf course 7 minutes away is beautiful, especially if the tiny airstrip next to it has pilot training going on and little one-engine planes keep coming in for landings directly overhead so close you could almost hit them with a golf ball.
Ashley is extremely responsive and helpful, especially with her recommendation of the great meal you should have on your way in at the cafe in the flower and nursery setting. While the house is not completely easy to get to because of winding woodsy roads leading down the hills toward the lake, it is easy to get in to and hard to leave. That is part of its charm. We are now in family discussions about whether to make this a yearly retreat. You have done a great job setting this place up, Ashley. Thank you.
We came with two families, 4 adults, 4 kids, for two nights. The kids LOVED the cinema room. We enjoyed using the canoe in the evening to see the wildlife and the sunset. We made a trip to “The Beach” on Saturday. That was great for the younger ones with a kiddie “pool”. The house had everything we needed, and we enjoyed the unplugged experience.
Great family getaway in nature!
My family had an amazing time unplugging and enjoying nature. Our children (4 and 7) loved fishing off the dock(loved the worms in the fridge!)and exploring the nearby creek. The craft area was a huge hit on a rainy day and we ended each evening roasting marshmallows on the deck. Thank you Ashley for sharing your gorgeous home with us. We will definitely be back to make more memories.
The Perfect Getaway
If you are looking for an upscale retreat I would highly recomend this splendid Lake Home. The home is newly remodeled with high end finishes. Lake Laura is truly a gem! We enjoyed walks around the lake, fishing and swimming. We often felt like we were on a private lake, as we could go hours without seeing anyone. When we decided to go out and about we enjoyed activities at Bryce Resort, Luray Caverns and river tubbing. We will definitely stay here again.
Luxury on Lake Laura
The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The furnishings, bedding, and décor were high quality. There is a wonderful playroom on the lower level for children and the Sonos music streaming capability was great.
The lake is beautiful. The hike around the lake is nice and the creek was fun to explore as well.
The home is close to a pick your own location, Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, Shenandoah Caverns, Meem's Bottom Covered Bridge, Route 11 Potato Chips factory, and an organic meat producer. Muse Vineyards is a close, fun trip
We would definitely stay here again.
The Shenandoah Valley is incredible for it's beauty and the many things there are to do in our area. From sitting on your own private dock on the lake to wine tasting at local vineyard to the best trout fishing there is. There are many hiking trails (one right out front of the house), near-by caverns, fishing creeks and lakes, wineries abound, kayaking, orchard picking, and the list goes on. The nearby Bryce Resort is a 10 minutes drive from the house and provides snow skiing, snow boarding, and tubing in the winter (snow sprayed even when there's no snow); and in the summer there is a professional mountain biking program (skit lift operated), zip lining for children and adults, rental of paddle boards, canoes, etc and in spring, summer, and fall, there is a full golf course.
