Our self-catering apartment is in the luxury Cotton Bay Village gated condominium in the north east of St Lucia. Cas en Bas beach is a few steps away through the exotic tropical gardens.
This is a large two bedroom Calabash apartment. It is not to be confused with the smaller two bedroom Tamarind apartments which are also at Cotton Bay Village.
Our ground floor apartment is situated at the edge of the pool and is ideal for a family, or for one or two couples. It consists of a kitchen, sitting room, dining terrace, and two bedrooms. Each bedroom has air conditioning, and its own en suite with shower, WC, and vanity unit. The electrical outlets are British 240 volt standard 3 pin sockets. However, there are two 110 volt US style sockets in each bedroom.
The fully appointed kitchen means that you have the choice of preparing your own meals, or if you prefer you can go to one of the many restaurants in Rodney Bay, which is ten minutes away by car or taxi.
You can cool off in one of the largest pools in St Lucia, or you can take a one minute walk down to the beach and relax there.

We fell in love with St Lucia many years ago, and bought this property off plan before the resort was built.
Cotton Bay Village is a unique concept in St Lucia, offering a range of upmarket properties ranging from two bedroom apartments up to four bedroom villas, all set in a small select condominium right on the beach.
Excellent getaway property. Quiet location, car recommended, Very clean and well appointed. Beautiful pool. beach nearby, but on the windy side; lots of local atmosphere. The property caretaker, Lorna, was a true gem. Any questions or problems, she was there immediately. A truly caring person. We highly recommend this condo.
We enjoyed a marvellous 4 day stay at this beautiful ground floor apartment. Its situation is magnificent with its own patio so that we could eat out-doors and close by the superb pool. Quiet and relaxing. A real joy to be there and we left relaxed, happy and only wishing we could have stayed longer
We enjoyed our stay in St Lucia and one of the best things about this vacation was the condo we chose. The description was accurate but left a few good things out. Prior to renting I contacted Mike for more information and his response was always timely and valuable. When we needed to change dates, it was not a problem for him and he was very gracious. Choosing a place to stay in an area that is unfamiliar can be daunting but there are many good things about this one. It is away from the crowded tourist areas yet close enough to take part in a variety of activities. As far as this unit goes, the pool is right there to use and enjoy. Went the sun becomes too much, there is a shaded area. The pool is very large and often we had it to ourselves. The beach is just around the side of the unit, a short walk away. The beach is noted for kite surfing and there is always a show to see. To really see any of St. Lucia you must either rent a car or use taxi's. We opted for the latter and found that each and every taxi driver is also a tour guide willing to tell you all about paradise. We discussed history, politics, along with getting information concerning the best things to do in the area. Try going to Marigot Bay, a quaint town on the water and eat at the Chateau Mygo House of Seafood. Take the Endless Summer catamaran cruise and visit the volcano, mud baths , waterfall, banana plantation and enjoy a good lunch and complimentary beverages. Swim or snorkle and have a relaxing day. Don't miss the natural beauty and history of Pigeon Island. There are a lot of interesing things to do on the island and the people are so friendly. Get out and learn. We only had a week and crammed as much in as we could and realize we will have to come back.
Back to the basics of the house. The kitchen was well-equipped and since there were 4 of us and we ate in often this was important to us. Everything was comfortable and clean. We were glad for the air-conditioned bedrooms but that was only needed at night and many folks might not find that a necessity. The breeze off the ocean was wonderful.
I would recommend that if you are arriving from the airport and are tired from your trip and might not want to go out again that you pick up the necessary items you will need from the grocery store on the way up to the condo. The taxi drivers are very understanding and will wait....no meter running.
This condo was a delight and highly recommended by the 4 of us.

My girlfriend and I stayed in this beautiful condo while visiting St.Lucia for the Jazz festival for the first time. It was a perfect location close to everything.front desk found us a driver who tool us around for a economic cost. I couldn't ask for more when considering staff amenities and overall comfort. we cooked our own breakfast and went grocery shopping at a near by grocery story on occasion we at dinner at the restaurant footsteps away from the condo. I would advise staying at this condo if your look for luxury comfort a great location
After visiting numerous "big" hotels on St Lucia, we were so happy to find this wonderful place of paradise. We truly found the best place in St Lucia! We always avoid the larger tourist hotels. Seeking out the more quite smaller properties. This apartment exceed all of our expectations.
The apartment is very well appointed, perfect accommodations for a family, extremely clean, comfortable and felt like home. The full size kitchen was outstanding for our cooking. All the kitchen appliances looked brand new, cookware, dishes and glasses were perfect for our meals. The unit has a washer/dryer, dish washer, electric oven with convection cooking, microwave, full size refrigerator that makes ice. Two TV’s are great – living room and master bedroom. The unit has Wi-Fi that is reachable throughout most the unit and the outside patio.
Plenty of power outlets for charging your portable devices. Make sure you bring the 3-prong blade euro plug power adapter for portable devices if you are coming from a non-Euro country.
The location of the apartment is only steps from a huge Olympic-size stunningly beautiful pool, a children’s play pool covered in shade to keep the sun off the children, in-pool lounging chairs, pool side bar staffed each day so you can enjoy your favorite beer or cocktail. The apartment is also a short 1 minute walk to an uncrowded bay/beach lined with beach chairs, umbrellas and plenty of shade! Plus, beautiful palm trees and island foliage.
The apartment has a wonderful covered patio for your meals with a full size teak table and chairs, two full size reclining deck chairs with a full size shade umbrella. These two amazing outside locations are surrounded by beautiful tropical plants and foliage. You will be visited each day by Humming birds, tropical birds, and butterflies.
We cannot wait to go back again!
My wife and I stayed at this unit the week of February 22. At the last minute, another couple joined us. We were comfortable, but if we were to do it again with two couples, we might choose a slightly larger property.
The description of the apartment is accurate. French doors open enlarge the living room space onto the shaded patio, making the space much bigger. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the crushed ice feature came in handy for rum drinks! The weather of course was great and breezy, and we rarely used the AC. The wi-fi worked fine, but didn’t go all the way into the far corners of each bedroom.
The staff was very friendly. The owner and the staff were very responsive with communications in advance of the trip. We recommend the Cotton Bay transport from the airport to Cotton Bay, and having the resort arrange the rental car to be picked up there. The that connection was flawless. This unit rental does not include maid service, and you should order it in advance of your trip if you want it.
The unit is next to the pool which is big and nice, as advertised. The beach is less than a minute walk away. It was windy every day, so that was a huge bonus for kiting; the breeze made the pool a good choice for some sun-bathers. Beth runs one of the kiting concessions on the beach. She is great, helping to launch, land, and give some tips.
Rodney Bay is the town close-by (8 minute car ride, not really walkable). It has several good restaurants (Big Chef Steak House, Spice of India, Blue Olive), and two good supermarkets. The market in the indoor mall is more upscale. We were not impressed by Soufriere or Castries. Check out Charlie’s Tours on TripAdvisor, the reviews there are accurate, it is a BLAST. Don’t worry about finding him, he’ll find you.
My wife and I are from the US, 55-ish, have traveled to many islands in the Caribbean, and don’t expect perfection. We like the peace and quiet – with basic amenities – that this type of setup provides vs large resorts. This is the first time we’ve used HomeAway/VRBO, and will definitely do it again. Thanks to Mike for allowing us to use his apartment.
St. Lucia is a wonderful holiday destination! The people are cheerful and friendly and love to make tourists very welcome.
Temperatures are between 25 and 30 degrees centigrade all the year round and the evenings are warm and pleasant.
Beautiful sandy beaches are numerous and the sea is always warm enough to swim in. There’s plenty to see and do and activities are easy to arrange through local agencies. It remains an unspoilt jewel in the Caribbean Sea.
Cotton Bay Village is on the north east side of the island on Cas-en-Bas beach. It’s currently the only complex on a very long sandy beach. The bay is safe for swimming and water activities, as it is protected by a reef across the entrance; this also means the sea is normally calm.
Cotton Bay is around 10 minutes’ drive from lively Rodney Bay and is reached by a road that goes through the golf course. The village is set in impressive tropical gardens and comprises of stand-alone villas, and apartment blocks around a swimming pool. Each apartment block houses 3 or 4 apartments. The condominium is relatively small, as there are only 72 units in total.
Cotton Bay Village is ideal for families or couples. You can just relax around the pool, under an umbrella on the beach, or on your own private terrace next to the apartment.
For those that want a more active holiday, you can explore the local bay, swim from the beach or take kite surfing lessons from Cas-en-Bas beach. The cooling breeze on this part of the island makes it ideal for kite surfing. Just a little further afield there’s the 18 hole international standard golf course, and two riding stables. For those that love water-sports, snorkelling, deep sea diving, jet skis, banana rides and boat excursions are easy to organise in Rodney Bay.
There is a local bar and casual restaurant called Majorie’s right on the beach at Cas en Bas.
If you wish to cater for yourself, there are several very good supermarkets in Rodney Bay, which is a 10 minute drive from Cas en Bas. Rodney Bay, with its beautiful Reduit Beach, is very lively and caters for all tourist needs. There are lots of shops, bars, restaurants, hotels, night clubs, car hire offices and excursion offices. The restaurants cater for all tastes and pockets. You can eat local food, snacks, pizzas, French, Indian, Chinese, Italian and so on. All seem to be staffed by local, smiling friendly people.
For those that like to get a real feel for this wonderful Caribbean island, exploration by land or by sea can be easily organized. Boat trips on catamarans and schooners are very popular, as are island safaris in open-topped Jeeps. On the ‘must see list’ are the Pitons and Soufriere, the drive-in volcano, the tropical rain forest and Marigot Bay. If you have any time left over the zip-line over tropical rain forest, the botanical gardens, Pigeon Island and Anse Cochon are well worth a visit too.
