We found the villa to be very welcoming. More than comfortable for 2 adults with 2 young children. Villa's location is ideal for exploring the local attractions as well as the local beaches which are very well suited for a young children and teenagers alike. For a location outside of a local town there are plenty of supermarket in the local area and the villa comes well equipped with cooking utensils, cooker, etc.
The beds were comfortable and the temperature in the villa remained steady and not too hot to sleep, we didn't need to turn on the air conditioning even when the temperature was reaching 30+ degrees during the day. The gardens provided plenty of opportunities for the children to explore and came complete with plum and lime trees!!
Would recommend the villa and location to any family looking for a mixture of mountains and beaches in a well established region of France - a great holiday.
We stayed two weeks in this rental property. The owner was easy to reach via email and responded to our every issue. She even had someone come to fix the hot water heater on a Sunday when we had no hot water. It is always a relief to rent from such responsive owners.
That said, the property wasn't exactly our cup of tea. The floors were not clean when we arrived. I believe this was an oversight because everything else was very clean. For the first week, we were battling flies, but then they were gone and we didn't see any at all the second week. That remains a mystery.
Look carefully at the photos. They are accurate. The house is very modern in decor with what I consider an uncomfortable dining table/chairs. For those who like that, it would be just fine. There are two refrigerators but neither were turned on when we arrived, despite there being guests ahead of us. That meant it took a bit of time for the, to cool down. The kitchen is only minimally outfitted. We tend to go out for lunch and like to relax and cook dinner and we found it a challenge in the kitchen.
The tv is an odd setup that we really couldn't get to function well. It uses an Internet connection that just wasn't steady enough to watch a whole show. There are some dvd's which we used and the Internet functioned well enough for iPad games.
On the plus side, the views of the mountains are spectacular. The house is light and airy and the a/c works very well to keep it cool on the hottest days. The area is interesting but does require a drive to most sites. The mountain roads make the travel times a lot longer than the mileage would seem. As long as you plan for it, that isn't a problem. We loved the gorge nearby- lovely outing and good, inexpensive Catalan beer! There are multiple medieval towns nearby that are worth a visit. We found them much more charming than Arles sure Tech or Amelie les Bains. Spain is only a short drive away, so we were able to spend a day or two in Barcelona. The beach town of Argeles sur mer has many restaurants, but an odd, gritty beach. We tried several restaurants and found the prices reasonable and the food good. The pizza restaurant in Arles sur Tech is very good. We ate in the restaurant and found the service and food both very good. In summer, the lovely garden is shaded.
In short, I recommend this house if you like modern houses and don't intend to spend a lot of time cooking. If you enjoy the Pyrenees, you couldn't find better owners to rent from.
