Labor Day Weekend

We loved it! The photos do not do the cabin justice. The kitchen is perfect to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, the upstairs bed was sooo comfortable and the cabin was decorated so nicely. Everything was so wonderful and we were so sad to leave. It was so peaceful, the hammock was so relaxing. Sitting on the front porch in the early hours was so nice. We especially enjoyed hearing the river. We will definately be back. The road up was such an adventure and we are so glad we brought the Tahoe! This cabin is so relaxing and so romantic. You feel like there is no one else around. It was so difficult to actually venture out and visit the area because we didn't want to leave the cabin.

Nice Cozy Cabin with No Frills

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a rustic cabin to unplug - look no further. That is exactly what my wife and I wanted to do after our wedding and that is exactly what we got in this place. It is close enough to Asheville (about 15 minutes to downtown) so you can go explore the city, but also remote enough that you can forget the rest of the world if you would like to. It is near to many of the trails and streams that the Appalachians are known for. It is exactly what you would expect a cabin in the woods to feel like.

Make sure your car has 4x4 and listen to the owner's advice about the drive up. It can be quite steep and my wife found it a little scary (I didnt think it was that bad). I had no problem negotiating the curves and bends in our large SUV. The drive is what really makes this place feel remote. Make sure you purchase your own firewood before you go up.

The kitchen is small but functional and we found the beds to be comfortable. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. If you start bringing many more people, I could see this place feeling small very fast. There is a washer and dryer and all of the linens are provided. We stopped at a grocery store (about 5 minutes away) and were able to get everything else that we needed. The porch has great views of the French Broad River. The hot tub right off the house is great to relax in after a long day hiking the nearby trails.

My wife and I loved our stay and would come back again in a heartbeat. If anything - its location is a GREAT jumping off point for anything in Asheville or the surrounding mountains.

Lovely cozy cabin stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time with our romantic getaway at the Private Log Cabin.

The cabin is cozy and it has the perfect amount of rustic and comfort.

Cabin was clean and it had simple and clear instructions on how to enjoy all of its amenities.

It has a great view of the river and that makes hanging out at the porch or the hot tube an incredible time.

We plan to come back and recommend it to friends!

St. Augustine

Cozy, private, and beautiful. Excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this cabin for our honeymoon and it was PERFECT! Close enough to get to town if we wanted to be active but private enough we could be completely reclusive if that was our mood:) we used the hot tub every day and every night and really enjoyed the fire place. We've already talked about going back. We did note though that, despite the fact it's a two bedroom, we wouldn't recommend traveling with others unless you're EXTREMELY Comfortable with one another as it's a very small space and, due to how it's built, sound travels everywhere and it would be very difficult to have privacy amongst yourselves. Perfect for a couples weekend away though! June was so easy to work with and was very responsive. Literally, our only complaint was that we had a very hard time getting the bottom floor to warm up so we spent most of our time upstairs. Also, definitely would recommend 4 wheel drive. It rained the whole first two days we were there and the drive up the mountain was a bit slippery!

We love this cabin, but it needs a little work...

  • 3 of 5

Let me start by saying that my wife and I love staying here and we will likely do it again. The location is absolutely perfect; close to the airport and downtown while also private and secluded. We love the fireplace and the outdoor jacuzzi. Unfortunately, the price keeps getting steeper while the quality of the cabin seems to be declining. For instance, the last time we stayed the outdoor deck had several low level lights and also rope lighting all around it. That made for a romantic ambiance but also a safer environment. This time, all the lights were either gone or broken. We had to stumble outside with a little flashlight to use the hot tub at night. The shower has definitely seen better days and really needs to be replaced. It's obvious that water frequently runs down the wall from the curtain being left slightly open, and the tub is littered with chips and stains. We were also surprised to see many spiderwebs hanging from and between ceiling joists. Finally, I find it downright annoying that the visitor is expected to do the laundry. Stripping the bed and piling the towels in a main room is one thing, but the instructions indicated that we were to actually run everything through the wash, and remake the beds. Huh? All of these things are pretty simple fixes, but they detracted from the stay and we couldn't help but think that we might be better off staying at one of the new hotels in the city. I smile whenever I think of this place and I absolutely love visiting, but some improvements could definitely be made. One last tip for the owners: have some hot dog skewers on hand so visitors can make smores! We searched high and low for big skewers but only found some that are about a foot long. We singed our fingers pretty bad but the smores were worth it :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, and for being a repeat customer. It seems you enjoyed your stay and would come back again, so we want to make sure that the items that affected your stay will not be a concern for you next time. We have checked on the landscape lights, and the cobwebs in the bathroom, dust does collect more at this time of year with the wood burning fireplace getting a lot of use, both of these things have been taken care. The lights are working again and the cabin interior has a through cleaning . We are planning to get the clawfoot tub resurfaced in the next couple months. As for the laundry, we do ask that you help with the laundry but do not expect it to be completely done and are flexible on this if there are time constraints. The checkout list says " If you are using our linens, begin the laundry doing a fair amount of what you use, if load is complete put back in appropriate place. Please do not leave any wet laundry in washing machine, you may leave a load going in the dryer." We feel as though we keep our rates very reasonable and the cleaning fee low, only $40, because of this we do ask our guests to help clean up some before they leave. We feel very fortunate that 99% of the time our guests leave the cabin in great shape. We are open to discussing this further with any guest that feels this a problem, and work to come up with an appropriate solution. We truly value our guest reviews and apologize for any inconveniences you had during your stay.
