About Bridget OBrian
I grew up in Maine and have summered in Harpswell for over 15 years. Love the quietness of Harpswell.
Bridget OBrian purchased this House in 2001
Why Bridget OBrian chose Harpswell
There is plenty to do in the area and yet you are off the beaten track. We love to sit with coffee and watch the birds in the morning and then have a cocktail on the little sunset deck in the birches in the evening. Restaurants are near or you can cook your own lobster or grill with great meats from the local butcher.

Quiet, beautiful spot!
This has to be one of the prettiest, quietest spots on the coast! Nice beach to swim, and easy to get to Brunswick and Freeport.
Sunset Cove is a perfect name
The house at sunset cove is a beautiful spot. It rained when we arrived, which increased the bug population, however, after a little bug spray our week was wonderful. Every night we would sit on the deck with a glass of wine and watch the sunset. They were the most beautiful I have seen in my travels. The house was a great size for 5 people and having a washer and dryer was great. Also, we watched the Harpswell fireworks from the deck, they were impressive. Last, the tidepool on the beach is really full of shells, hermit crabs, and small fish. It was fun to walk through in our water shoes.
This cottage is perfectly situated on the edge of a Maine cove. The stairway to the shore is a bit uneven at the top, but perfectly manageable, and the landing half-way down is a dreamy spot from which to gaze out over the water. The house itself is small, but the upstairs en suite bedroom is very comfortable indeed. The 2 bedrooms on the ground floor are fine for children, less so for older folks who might need to use the loo at night - the staircase is steep, and one must climb from the ground floor to the middle floor to find a bathroom. In cooler seasons the heaters in the lower bedrooms do a lot to alleviate the dampness attendant on being at ground level. The kitchen is nicely equipped, there are games for rainy days. All in all it is a splendid cottage in a gorgeous setting.
Bowdoin Graduation 2019
Wonderful, once you get there. Our main complaint was that we were unable to fully take advantage of our accommodations due to the need to being closer to campus. That 18-20min drive began to add up in burning up 3/4 tank of gas back and forth to Brunswick. Had plans to grill....no time, back to town. The view of the water was very soothing and I sure could have used a week of just taking that in. The lower level bedrooms were a surprise configuration and the stairs very steep and narrow and it was a little musty smelling but it has been a cool spring and probably not open to the fresh air. The 2nd bathroom in the ample laundry/pantry were a surprise but workable. Overall.....loved it!
We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Cove and if we ever make it back this way, would definitely stay here again.
We would welcome you back anytime! Glad you enjoyed our little spot in paradise.

It is called Sunset Cove for a Reason
The most relaxing house we stayed out on our trip. It was a really reclusive property that allowed for hours of exploration of the beach, back roads, and lobster shacks. Around the bend was a great convenience store that assisted with our needs, a short drive and Freeport was available to us. Really though, you come here to relax and have quality family time. I would say ~80% of our waking hours at the house were spent on the porch overlooking the gorgeous views of the bay, while the rest of the time was spent on the beach. With the 70 degree fall weather we experienced (LUCKY US!!!), it was just an unforgettable time. You can tell that this house has seen many memories made by the owners and they want other families to have the opportunity to make similar ones as well. This place was reminiscent of my childhood on a lake cottage... peaceful, expansive, adventurous, and other qualities that are hard to find in today's world. I couldn't recommend a place more for a family to come together and create their own adventures to remember!
Linens can be provided for $25 a week.
