Overview

About the property

Achnandarach Lodge - a nine guest property with five bedrooms and lovely views.

Achnandarach Lodge is situated five miles from the Kyle of Lochalsh, with a bridge across to the Isle of Skye, shops, restaurants, and a local railway station.

A Swiss chalet-style house, which has been completely refurbished throughout, surrounded by pine forest, the house has stunning views over Skye and lovely walks from the front door. Fencing prevents the deer entering the attractive one acre garden and a few hundred yards walk through the forest behind the house brings you to Loch Achnahinich.

The house itself is on three floors with an overriding sensation of space. The literal centrepiece is the middle floor which has an open plan area with large picture windows and a balcony. Leading off this is a spacious kitchen with traditional pine table for breakfast or informal meals.

2) Walk to Duncraig Castle.

3) The Television Mast Walk - The television mast at the top of the Crags is easier to reach than may appear. The view is well worth it. Many people drive to a point below before they start the walk, which can be steep in places.

4) The Lochalsh Woodland Garden - At the Balmacara Estate and owned by the National Trust for Scotland, it is ideal for leisurely walks in a maintained and sheltered environment.

5) Swimming - There are plenty of places to swim. Buckie's Pier, in front of and to the left of the Plockton Hotel is popular with local children. Alternatively a short drive and walk will take you to Dubhaird, a gently-sloping sandy cove.

6) Visit Coral Beach - To access this most interesting beach, the nearest parking place is located at the South West corner of Plockton airstrip. (The road continues past this place to Dubhaird).

7) Take a seal trip with Calum's Plockton Seal Trips who provide spectacular trips to the islets of Plockton Bay and Loch Carron to view the seals, with your money back if you don't see any.

8) Take a seafood cruise - Sail with Neil Macrae and Seafood Cruises from Kyle into the scenic waters of Loch Alsh and enjoy the freshest seafood at the same time. Contact the Seafood Restaurant in Kyle 01599 534813.

9) Visit the Bright Water Visitor Centre - Set on the pier at Kyleakin on Skye, opposite Kyle of Lochalsh, the centre is dedicated to local wildlife and the local history of the area, with activities for visitors of all ages, and a shop selling quality local products and hand made crafts.

10) Take a trip to Eilean Donan Castle
